His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.[2]

Why be mindful of the spiritual realm? God created people to be able to recognize and even have an interest in the spiritual. Of course, in Christ, we long for communion with God, who is Spirit, and his son Jesus. We pray in the Spirit and are empowered by the Spirit to discern and grow in the gospel of grace. The Scripture teaches that every person is either under the leading of the Spirit of God or under the spirit of the god of this age. The god of this age rules the spiritual realm with dark powers and authorities directing against the one true God. We long for the heavenly realm empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish God’s will− his desire for my life filled and overflowing.
I need to be reminded and am compelled to remind others to live in the Spirit. I am always encouraged by brothers who make it common discussion to sense the Holy Spirit and/or emphasize the necessity to be in the Spirit at every turn. Beloved, this is a constant pursuit. We live for Christ alone and are in need of Holy Spirit power daily, even moment by moment. How do we care for and nurture the Spirit in us? Hide the Word of God in our heart and mind. Daily ask, seek, knock, and pursue with great intention to know the only true God from the Scriptures. This is not just a head knowledge, but a heart affirming and sensing the presence of our most holy God.
Through God’s glory and goodness, he called you and me unto salvation. O the supernatural splendor, his holiness, and moral excellence revealed. Only by his divine power are we supplied with everything we need for life and godliness. This is the work of the Spirit of God in you. We participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.[3]
How has my co-participation been every moment, day, week, month, year? Do I count myself dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus?[4] In view of God’s mercy, do I offer my body a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God as my spiritual act of worship?[5] Do I continue to work out my salvation with fear and trembling, knowing it is God who works in me to will and to act according to his good purpose?[6] How often do I prepare my mind for action, be self-controlled, and set my hope on future grace when Jesus returns?[7] I need to be reminded to not conform to the evil desires I had when I lived in ignorance. Our calling is to be like God who is holy.[8] We echo with the psalmist, “Hear my cry for mercy as I call to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your Most Holy Place.”[9]
Do not hesitate to remind each other and encourage one another with all “we have” and are called “to do” in Christ Jesus by the power of the Spirit.
