Friday Morning Prayer:)… July 14, 2022

July 15, 2022 - 5 minutes read

The grace of God has reached for me
And pulled me from the raging sea
And I am safe on the solid ground
The Lord is my salvation

I will not fear when darkness falls
His strength will help me scale these walls
I’ll see the dawn of the rising sun
The Lord is my salvation

Who is like the Lord our God?
Strong to save faithful in love
My debt is paid, and the victory won
The Lord is my salvation[1]

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes…”[2]

________________

The glorious appeal to believe the gospel.  The call to diverse guys who share a common theme of brokenness is,  ‘trust the grace of God to pull you out of the raging sea of godlessness and wickedness.’  Believe the good news and walk with Christ in obedience.  There alone is safe and solid ground.  It is an unspeakable joy to watch and experience the power of God working in and through those who truly believe.

Today, through the power of God, those who lived in rebellion against God and engaged in morally corruptible behaviors escape God’s wrath.  Thank you, Lord.  Mercy prevails because of the curse-bearing death of Christ.  I am thankful to be given opportunities to proclaim the gospel and watch the power of God draw men to take refuge in him.  This truth is realized in both men and women—my recurring opportunity to proclaim the gospel is at a men’s sober living home in San Diego.  Instead of our corrupt old nature leading the way with futile thinking and foolish hearts, God caused a merciful change. And, our gracious God continues to reach sin-broken people who are led anew by the Spirit. By his grace, transformed minds become increasingly willing, with great effort, to strive by his power. God, in Christ, is Lord and takes his rightful place of supremacy over the new life given.  Amazing Grace!

Beloved, you too have been changed by the power of God!  In fact, through the power of God is how we live our Christ life.  Jesus encouraged his disciples and us too, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”[3]   May the power of God be evident in my restraint, the humble pursuit, the agape love demonstrated, my renewed thoughts, and words spoken from a truly regenerate heart.

Be ye encouraged to persevere in his strength.  Most days, the darkness does fall in some measure in my life and yours.  The joy of the Lord is our strength!  The chorus to a hymn,

“And Jesus said come to the water, stand by my side

I know you are thirsty, you won’t be denied

I felt every teardrop when in darkness you cried

And I strove to remind you that for those tears, I died.”[4]

My hope is hidden in the Lord
He flowers each promise of His word
When winter fades, I know spring will come
The Lord is my salvation

Glory be to God, the Father
Glory be to God, the Son
Glory be to God, the Spirit
The Lord is our Salvation
