Friday Morning Prayer:)… November 17, 2022
November 18, 2022 - 3 minutes readWhat a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We shall never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Precious Jesus
Lord and friend
I give everything to You
Shelter
Shepherd
Savior King
I give everything to You
Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Savior still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise forsake thee
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee
Thou wilt find a solace there[1]
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself interceded for us with groans that words cannot express.”[2]
_____________
Precious Jesus, Lord, and friend, I give everything to you. Yes, Lord, you are my Shelter, Shepherd, Savior King. Help me to give everything to you. Indeed, there are numerous trials and temptations with trouble everywhere. Often, I forfeit the peace by striving in my own strength to resolve the pain and grief Jesus has offered to resolve in and through me, as he determines. I am called to humble myself under God’s mighty hand so that he will lift me up in due time. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”[3]
Beloved, be ye encouraged! This life lived in jars of clay, broken, burdened, joyful, sad, encouraged, discouraged, hopeful, hopeless, certain, uncertain, and designed to rely on our indwelling God! Christ in you, the hope of glory! “Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. Yahweh sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.”[4] In Christ, empowered to stand firm on gospel truth, asking Jesus for help to overcome my disbelief. Thank you, Mighty God, rich in mercy, for sharing all our sorrows and loving us through our every weakness. Take it to the Lord in prayer.
