Friday Morning Prayer:)… October 19, 2017
October 19, 2017 - 8 minutes readLord, You are more precious than silver;
Lord, You are more costly than gold;
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds;
And nothing I desire compares with You.
Lord, You are more costly than gold;
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds;
And nothing I desire compares with You.
Lord, Your life is divine, eternal.
Lord, Your life regenerated me.
Lord, Your life is growing within me,
Until I am fully conformed to Thee.[1]
Lord, Your life regenerated me.
Lord, Your life is growing within me,
Until I am fully conformed to Thee.[1]
“This is what the LORD says: Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls….”[2]
____________
I want to be moved by God. God does stir desire, that longing for his presence, a sense of excitement, and motivation to pray and cry out for supernatural intimacy. Beloved, I pray you know and experience greater depths and enjoy relating with God through every moment of every day his grace provides. The truth of his word, the comfort, the joy, the peace; oh how I desperately need God through our Savior Jesus Christ!
God desires to have a relationship with us, you were chosen by him unto salvation, empowered to humbly walk with him in joyful obedience! In Christ, we stand and look. There is so much corruption, immorality, compromise, deception, etc., the temptations and worldly pleasures entice! My flesh is weak! Thank you, God, for the promised way of escape: a regenerate heart, mind, and spirit that is willing to resist!
In Christ, we continually ask for discernment to know the ancient paths and cry out in prayer to be led daily in the ‘good way.’ Jeremiah agonized for God’s people to repent and follow the way of holiness. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever! We too are called by our gracious God to walk in holiness. I do not, at the very least, want to “blend in” or at the worst, live and act like I do not even know God, hence perceived as in harmony with a godless world system! No! Forgive me, Lord. “Return, O faithless sons; I will heal your faithlessness.”[3] Jesus is our glorious salvation! Brother/sister, we shine brightly in the darkness! All other paths of wickedness are delusional by comparison.
I can’t walk in it alone! God orchestrates and empowers! Moses proclaims to a future repentant people, “The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.”[4] This exciting truth is fulfilled in Christ. The cross! Jesus has,
“…borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;” “… he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes, we are healed.”[5]
The stirring in your heart as you grasp this gospel truth reflects a truly regenerate, hence circumcised heart! Moreover, I have to examine myself daily and put to death my flesh tendencies, resist the Devil, and run from temptation! I know, without a doubt who is my salvation. I ask daily for Holy Spirit power to produce fruit that is consistent with a regenerate heart and reflective of our great salvation. Jesus said, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”[6]
Beloved, Scripture is clear, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”[7] This is life and death serious! My heart hurts, tears flow for the unregenerate heart, especially those who profess Jesus, yet will fail the test. “Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name, and in your name drive out demons… I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”[8]
Brother Mark over at Emmanuel Christian highlighted, the truly regenerate heart is, “way beyond a salvation slip in my pocket!” Indeed! Rest for our souls is satisfied in Jesus, and pursued daily as we grow and mature in our shared faith. Today is still the day of salvation. Mercy continues to prevail over sin. We can still humbly pray, “Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.”[9] We are still called to repent from sinful and selfish ways, for the kingdom of God is at hand. Genuine followers of Jesus will continue to live empowered by God, the evidence will be in the fruit of their lives.
I need you and you need me to encourage and love intentionally, especially as God directs us from glory to glory.
Lord, Your love is wide as the ocean.
Lord, Your love is deep as the sea.
Lord, Your love encompasses the nations,
And that is all I want to live in me.
Lord, Your love is deep as the sea.
Lord, Your love encompasses the nations,
And that is all I want to live in me.
Lord, Your light is shining within us;
Lord, Your light drives darkness away.
Lord, Your light is guiding us onwards,
Preparing us for the coming wedding day.
Lord, Your light drives darkness away.
Lord, Your light is guiding us onwards,
Preparing us for the coming wedding day.
