Friday Morning Prayer:)… October 15, 2021
October 15, 2021 - 6 minutes readThere is a Name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
The sweetest Name on earth.
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me!
It tells me of a Savior’s love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner’s perfect plea.
It tells me of a Father’s smile
Beaming upon His child;
It cheers me through this little while,
Through desert, waste, and wild…[1]
“I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.”[2]
_____________
“We love because [God] first loved us. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”[3] The supernatural experience of God’s loving favor is amazing, life-changing, empowering. Therefore, we can relate with Paul’s words, ‘I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.’ God’s grace enriches our lives in every way, especially as we are led by the Spirit of Jesus to speak about what we know and have experienced in Christ. Just like the Corinthians, the testimony about Christ is confirmed in you and me. Inevitably, a truly regenerate heart reflects Jesus—it is his transforming renewing power that helps us thrive. In him, compelled by the Spirit, we thankfully serve, encourage, love the body of Christ, and use our God-given gifts for his glory.
Be ye strengthened as you eagerly wait for Jesus to be revealed—the anticipation, our hope, that blessed assurance is our strength, encouragement, and joy that characterizes, in ever-increasing measure, the regenerate heart. “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”[4] Yes, we look forward and we persevere in the present, even prevail over sinful ways with determination, excitement, and joy! ‘There is a Name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth…’ ‘It tells me of a Savior’s love, Who died to set me free…’ ‘It tells me of a Father’s smile beaming upon his child; it cheers me through this little while…’ “He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”[5]
I am certain that God keeps me strong, motivated, joyful, and overflowing with gospel truth in and through the fellowship of brothers. If you long for the joy of the Lord and the motivation to pursue our gracious God, take the steps, make a valiant effort to join like-minded believers. Develop close Christ-centered friendships—brothers sharpening brothers and sisters sharpening sisters. The body of Christ gathered to encourage, spur on toward love and good deeds is how the regenerate heart is designed. In order to thrive and experience supernatural joy, love, peace I have to stay connected and grow in trusting relationships that endure through the highs and lows inherent in our Christ-life journey. In Christ’s love, I encourage you to consistently pursue this end. “God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”[6]
Jesus, the Name I love so well,
The Name I love to hear:
No saint on earth its worth can tell,
No heart conceive how dear.
This Name shall shed its fragrance still
Along this thorny road,
Shall sweetly smooth the rugged hill
That leads me up to God.
And there with all the blood-bought throng,
From sin and sorrow free,
I’ll sing the new eternal song
Of Jesus’ love for me.
