Friday Morning Prayer:)… November 8, 2018

November 8, 2018 - 5 minutes read
You are my hiding place
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You

I will trust in You
Let the weak say
I am strong
In the strength of the Lord

You are my hiding place
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You[1]

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.[2]

How do we know those truly in Christ?   The Apostle Paul in writing to the church at Corinth thanked God for the grace given to those in Christ.   The believers there were living out the testimony about Christ and it was confirmed in their knowledge and speech.   At that glorious call of God in my life, and yours too, our Lord Jesus changed our hearts, indwelling through the Spirit, and continually manifest through a humbled and surrendered life and confirmed through our witness about his transforming and sustaining power.

People need life-changing encouragement.  According to God’s sovereign grace, supernatural life change comes at the mercy of God for those who have been called according to his purpose.   We in Christ have been predestined to be conformed to the likeness of Jesus.[3]  This is the most valued, cherished, and merciful, God orchestrated experience we can ever receive, and we desire others to receive it too.  Therefore, I pray for those opportunities to be a witness for Jesus.   Indeed, we are blessed in knowing and speaking about the gospel in our day to day activities through various contacts, ongoing relationships,  prayer, Bible study, fellowship groups, and we anticipate, with much prayer, we ask our merciful God, who Lord do you want me to share this glorious treasure with.

I ask for stronger desire to reach the lost and have Spirit led sensitivities toward those God calls to himself.   God is my hiding place and I will trust him to bring others to hide in him too.    We do not rely on our own strength to live out the great commission, to shine brightly in a dark world we trust our Lord and pursue him in his strength. “He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.  God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”[4]  Trust him by his amazing grace.

What do we preach? What is crucial to share about the gospel? The cross is the power of God for us who are being saved.[5]  Therefore, “…we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks [African Americans, Whites, Hispanic, Asians, etc.] Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.”[6]  How do we understand this fully?  We have seen, heard, and conceived, to the degree that God allows, what he has prepared for us who love him.  “…God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.”[7]  Moreover, “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.”[8]

We have been saved by God’s grace alone, through faith alone, and we rely on Holy Scripture alone in regard to faith and practice.  In the power of our indwelling God, we grow and mature in our shared faith.   Overflow with the truth that sets every surrendered heart free!

I will trust in You
Let the weak say I am strong
In the strength of the Lord
I will trust in You
