Friday Morning Prayer:)… November 26, 2021

November 26, 2021 - 6 minutes read

Walking in sunlight all of my journey,
Over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said, I’ll never forsake thee—
Promise divine that never can fail.

Heavenly sunlight! Heavenly sunlight!
Flooding my soul with glory divine;
Hallelujah! I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine!

Shadows around me, shadows above me
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the light, in Him is no darkness,
Ever I’m walking close to His side.[1]

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin.[2]

I am thankful every day for God’s saving mercy and sustaining grace as he abides with you, me, and every born-again person journeying this life in Christ.   I am thankful, “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.”  Moreover, our God, “…is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.”[3]  Paul gives the very religious Athenians an introductory summary of God’s sovereignty as creator and sustainer of all life—he tells the religious men of Athens what is enduring truth for today.  Before God granted saving mercy, all of us strayed pursuing our own ideas about God, serving modern day idols, being consumed with the things of the world.  “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.  For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.”[4]

For the Christian, Spirit-filled and being filled, empowered by our abiding God, we live a life of humility and repentance.  Our God is holy beyond measure.  As I grow in grace and learn—gain knowledge about God, commune with him, listen, pray, pursue him as my Father, Jesus my Lord, and the Holy Spirit my counselor—God, who indwells the redeemed, reveals my sin, my pride, my arrogance, etc. and by his grace, I am able to repent.  I repented when God called me unto salvation and the blood of the Lamb cleansed me from all sin.  I stand right before God and am justified by faith/belief in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.  As I journey this precious Christ-life, I am being saved from sinful ways, evil temptations, and when my flesh fails, God’s sustaining grace helps me confess my sins and repent.

You, in Christ, have the same experience because we share a precious supernatural faith!  Thankful!  If the Spirit of God is grieved by my actions, I want to know that grief.  A deep conviction and contrite heart that causes me to run to God.  Brother Mark preached about the regenerate heart—’your heartbeat and mine, our thoughts being inline or in concert with God’s thoughts’[5]—I want to know and experience oneness of Spirit in Jesus, so do you.  This kind of desire, even supernatural realization, comes from God.  As far as those recurring human/fleshly desires and sinful actions, I ask for greater awareness, to know God better, and repent from anything that is not from him for my life.  I pray you have the same longing for intimacy with God, an intimacy that is pleasing to God and full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness—Yes!  May others know you and me by the fruit of the Spirit, overflowing!

In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,
Pressing my way to mansions above;
Singing His praises, gladly I’m walking,
Walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.
