Friday Morning Prayer:)… May 7, 2020

May 8, 2020 - 5 minutes read

Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
  That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
  Was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
  And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
  The hour I first believed!

The Lord hath promised good to me,
  His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
  As long as life endures.[1]

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.  There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.[2]

Amazing grace!  The gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes and in the gospel, a righteousness from God is revealed.[3]  You know the desire to share the good news, love others, encourage, show kindness, mercy, and overflowing joy because you have been saved!  A glorious supernatural and real truth!  ‘I once was lost, but now I am found, Was blind, but now I see.’  It is God’s power through the proclamation of the gospel and unceasing cries for mercy that wretched calloused hearts are softened, regenerated, and new lives are born.

What is salvation?  “And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”[4]  The forgiveness of sins through the cross and a new life in Christ!  Before believing and receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior, and that by God’s sovereign grace, you and me were under the power of sin.  “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.  All have turned away…”[5]  However, through Christ righteousness has been revealed.  A righteousness that is by faith from God to our underserving sinful state.  Amazing Grace.

As long as life endures the Lord is our shield and the only truly necessary portion through every life event, every difficult season, every high and low to bring him praise and unending worship, honor, glory because he empowers us and gives you, me, every regenerate heart the strength to persevere until that glorious day comes when salvation is completely realized.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.”  (Eph 1:7-8)

“I’ve been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb”[6]

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
  Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
  Than when we first begun.
