Friday Morning Prayer… :)… May 17, 2018
May 17, 2018 - 6 minutes readI come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.[1]
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.[1]
“For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, Abba Father. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.”[2]

The chimes of time ring out the news, another day is through. Someone slipped and fell, was that someone you? You may have longed for added strength, your courage to renew. Do not be disheartened, for I have news for you:”[3] It is no secret what God can do and what he has already done. I am so thankful for encouraging songs of old. Those necessary lyrics that remind us, “And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own; And the joy we share as we tarry there…” So often going through another day the trials and temptations are difficult. The redeemed in Christ long for added strength, that supernatural renewal to overcome the struggle against sin and to know the joy of our gracious God better.
Having believed the gospel and surrendered all at the cross, the truly regenerate heart is where God dwells. The Holy Spirit indwelling is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession.[4] The Spirit makes victory possible to the degree that I choose to deny the flesh and live by the Spirit. The redeemed do not escape the need to struggle against sin. In Christ, my call and yours too is to live by the Spirit and to keep in step with the Spirit.[5] The Spirit gives joy in the face of trials as the testing of our faith develops perseverance. Persevere, my sister and brother! God is forming you as he determines. Resist the flesh, the Devil and the enticements of this world. Through the process, we grow strong and mature, complete in Christ as perseverance completes its work through our struggles.[6]
Our supernatural renewal becomes evident as we heed the inspired words of Jude, “But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”[7] We hold fast to the gospel and build ourselves up by having fellowship with our gracious God and his people. We joyfully worship and humbly cry out to our God.
We renew by constantly praying in the Holy Spirit. “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.”[8] The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…. We intentionally keep ourselves in God’s love and focus on his mercy. I am thankful it is no secret what God can do. He redeems, transforms, equips, and gives joy overflowing! He tells me I am his own, he walks and talks with me and I sense his glorious presence.
Beloved, I pray you know our gracious God as Abba Father. Our God of all comfort loves you beyond measure in and through our Lord Jesus. He empowers you to love others through the difficulties of this life and beyond.
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
