Friday Morning Prayer:)… May 12, 2022

May 13, 2022 - 4 minutes read

Life is easy, when you’re up on the mountain,
And you’ve got peace of mind
Like you’ve never known.
But then things change and you’re down in the valley;
Don’t lose faith for you’re never alone.

For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He’ll make them right.
And the God of the good times is still God in the bad times;
The God of the day is still God in the night

We talk of faith when we’re up on the mountain,
But talk comes easy
When life’s at its best.
But it’s down in the valley of trials and temptations,
That’s where faith is really put to the test.[1]

I need to be encouraged by the truth of God’s word.  The hymn is a comforting reminder of God’s presence through the varied circumstances of our lives.   Yes, our Lord Jesus, is our Savior, comforter, and sovereign God in the good and bad times.  “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”[2]  Moreover, “I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”[3]

We are encouraged to “Take [or receive] the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.  To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel…”[4]

Beloved, are you convinced?  The word of God is meant to strengthen our faith—a God-given belief growing more and more with ever-increasing love for one another.  You, and me too, work out this great salvation by taking the helmet of salvation, grasping the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, and wield it with humble boldness by the power of God.

Be ye encouraged to discern and pursue the words that come from God, so that you may effectively overcome the flesh/sinful nature and recognize the schemes of Satan delightfully designed to destroy your witness, your joy, your soul.
