Blessed are we who persevere under trial, because as we stand through the test, we will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.[2]
Beloved in Jesus,
How necessary, how beautiful, comforting is the mercy of God. As days are filled with sorrow and care, lonely hearts and drear, mercy reaches us. Jesus encourages, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” My call, yours too is to persevere, endure, and stand through testing. Our holy trials to mold, form us into mature followers of Jesus! A necessary, even painful at times, process! However, in his strength, humble submission and service to our God who indwells to accomplish good works through you and me too! According to his will. Therefore, may God give us wisdom, especially as we cry out daily! Oh how I need to recognize my weakness and take his yoke and learn from our gentle, humble Savior.
We know our enemy the devil prowls around seeking those he can destroy. In Christ, we resist those temptations by God’s grace. However, what about those temptations from evil within my heart? So often failure to resist those recurring flesh temptations: irritability, impatience, a rude comment, arrogance, etc., Therefore, I confess my sin, recognizing my need for grace ongoing. Thankful for burdens lifted at Calvary! Moreover, I seek brothers to process with, to acknowledge difficulties, to pray and encourage perseverance! So very thankful we are called to fellowship, to endure, overcome, victory in Jesus together!
Brothers and sisters, I write to encourage you and myself! I value much the opportunity to reflect and express my own need for the comfort of our gracious God. My prayer even as I write, may you have “the distinctive religious joy” that supernatural benefit of salvation regardless of circumstances we are called to endure. May you find yourself singing over and over every day of the week, “O what a Savior, O hallelujah! His heart was broken on Calvary, His hands were nail scarred, His side was riven, He gave His life-blood for even me.”[3]
Troubled soul, the Saviour can see,
Ev’ry heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary
Jesus is very near.
Ev’ry heartache and tear;
Burdens are lifted at Calvary
Jesus is very near.
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Calvary, Calvary,
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.
Calvary, Calvary,
Burdens are lifted at Calvary,
Jesus is very near.
