Friday Morning Prayer:)… March 28, 2019

March 29, 2019 - 8 minutes read

In this world, I walk alone
With no place to call my home,
But there’s one who holds my hand
Through rugged roads, through barren lands.

The way is dark, the road is steep,
But He’s become my eyes to see,
The strength to climb, my griefs to bear.
The Savior lives inside me there.

In Your love I find release
A haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer, my God to Thee[1]

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”[2]

Do I trust God?  Do I recognize his sovereign hand in all my pursuits and the outcomes?  Oh, the necessary realization of my life and yours too being and becoming a living prayer.  Although the way of the Christian life can be dark, the pilgrim’s road at times steep, God in Christ, in the power of the Spirit gives us the strength to persevere!  The concept, biblical truth that proclaims our God indwells the regenerate heart illuminates the gospel song lyrics: ‘But there’s one who holds my hand through rugged roads, through barren lands.’  Therefore, we sing all the more with confident desperation:

 Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light:[3]

What does the pursuit of God look like?  I am certain the “pursuit” varies as far as intensity and passion.  However, there is a commonness among those in Christ that aligns with the gospel. “Oh Lord, You know I have no friend like you If Heaven’s not my home, Oh Lord what would I do?”[4]  Moreover, “To the old rugged cross I will ever be true; Its shame and reproach gladly bear; then He’ll call me someday to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share.”[5]

Foundational biblical truth unites every genuine regenerate heart in Christ.   The Apostle Paul makes it clear that every person in Christ is dead to sin and alive in Christ.  “…We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?  Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”[6]

This new life in Christ is the pursuit of God, and God Almighty pursuing us!   When I in awesome wonder consider…  then sings my soul my Savior God to Thee How Great Thou art! How Great Thou art![7] God is always doing good and calling the dead to life, especially through the obedient heart who is willing to overflow this supernatural faith we share.  The Spirit leads, I want ears to hear and eyes to see beyond the natural and worldly distractions.  Our brother Tom covered for me at the men’s home this week.  That was Spirit led!  One of the guys texted me to express his gratitude for the Spirit using Tom to share the love abundant in Christ.  Joy!  God’s abundant grace!

Our pursuit of God reveals an open, transparent, vulnerable disposition that is honest.  Christ in you is willing to share love, and show compassion.  A new life in Christ is accountable and able to be who we are called and gifted to be in His strength.  Most value an authentic person, revealing his or her struggles and dependence on God.  Our high calling in view of God’s mercy is to offer ourselves as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is my spiritual act of worship.[8] Our business is with God!  Humble we go, trusting God through the highs and lows of this life.  I strongly desire to walk in the will of God according to supernatural faith given to me.  There is One Who holds my hand.

Beloved, be encouraged to pursue our gracious God.  Pray unceasingly: we pray for each other to have divine appointments to share this good news, boldness to share the gospel, grace, to encourage others to hold on to Jesus!  ‘Take my life and let me be A living prayer, my God to Thee.’

In these trials of life, I find Another voice inside my mind
He comforts me and bids me live
Inside the love the Father gives

In Your love I find release
A haven from my unbelief
Take my life and let me be
A living prayer, my God to Thee

Take my life and let me be
A living prayer, my God to Thee
