Friday Morning Prayer:)… March 26, 2021
March 26, 2021 - 7 minutes readAll to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.[1]
“But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.”

Why do I surrender all to Jesus? Paul writing to the church of the Thessalonians was thankful for the Christians there. He remembered their work produced by faith, labor prompted by love, and their endurance inspired by hope. God, great in mercy has chosen me, you, and every truly regenerate heart. Our God through the Lord Jesus gave and continues to give salvation; by abundant grace through sovereign granted faith my life and yours too, are different. We experience a supernatural change no longer existing in spiritual darkness—we receive the gift of life, faith, love, hope, and we are spiritually alive in Christ! “You are all sons of the light and sons [daughters] of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.”[2] Therefore, I surrender all to Jesus because he gave me salvation—a real faith that produces work with extraordinary effort, intentional self-sacrifice, labor prompted by love, and great endurance inspired by hope—blessed assurance to readily surrender all in our Lord Jesus.
Oh, we sing, “Wonderful, merciful Savior, Precious Redeemer and Friend… Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, Spirit we long to embrace; You offer hope when our hearts have hopelessly lost our way…[3] Yes, all to Jesus I surrender, humbly at His feet I bow. I encourage my sons, brothers in the Lord, and myself to pursue God and ask him to illuminate degrees of his greatness, holiness, that I might truly understand this great salvation we share. The world and the glitter, flesh, and pleasures are enticing. No! ‘All to Jesus I surrender, Make me, Savior, wholly Thine.’
Be encouraged as you journey this Christ life! We persevere as God strengthens day after day—he makes his presence known through his word, and we encourage one another and build each other up; we comfort others because God comforts us in all our troubles.[4] Do you sense God when you join with brothers or sisters in prayer? Is God sensed and/or experienced as I study the word? What about when sharing biblical precepts, or expressing the love, joy, peace to someone hurting or needing clarity and practical direction? We sing prayerfully, ‘Let me feel the Holy Spirit, [t]ruly know that Thou art mine.’ Indeed! In His presence daily live. God created our affections to enjoy him. I absolutely sense God’s power when sharing gospel truth. I always have joy when meeting with the family of God. And, the love of God pursued, embraced, and deeply experienced is a supernatural emotion and understanding unique to the regenerate heart. Certainly, the comfort of God is an affection I need to experience; and, we are called to readily offer it to others hurting, even humbly asking our God to comfort through our efforts. In Christ, you do in humble obedience what God prompts and empowers through you. Thank you! Brother/sister, let us continually pray and cry out to God for ever-increasing desire, to do so more and more. Persevere in work, persistent labor, and intense endurance because of your realized faith, love, and hope.
All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame;
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!
