Friday Morning Prayer:)… March 26, 2020

March 26, 2020 - 6 minutes read

Are you hurting and broken within
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself
Do you thirst for a drink from the well
Jesus is calling

O come to the altar
The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today there’s no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes a new life is born
Jesus is calling[1]

“He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.”[2]

It is clear to me that what I have and cherish recognizably becomes even more valued, significant, and longed for when it is not readily available.  You know the longing and the necessary steps we take to curb the deficit and satisfy our God-given design for fellowship with those who share living faith.  The regenerate heart finds divine satisfaction through being in relationships where we experience genuine love and joy in relating and sharing the treasure given by our most gracious and merciful God.

The longing to gather with other believers is God living in and through you; his intention, instruction, encouragement, even supernatural compelling is for us to worship and glorify him through constant prayer, awe-inspiring mindfulness recognizing him as the only God Almighty, Savior, Father, Friend, Comforter, Refiner, Potter… Indeed! Our merciful God does initiate, stirs the depraved heart, and develops joyful and overflowing love with tears, especially when the depths of salvation is tasted.

We gather to praise our God together as God has ordained it.  Moreover, the experience of leadership, those called and highly valued God gifted elders, evangelists, worship leaders, servants, teachers relying on the Holy Spirit to empower and bring the living word to the forefront and allow the inspired word to help every hungry soul, the humble aching heart, the wayward, hostile, struggling, sick, the rejoicing victorious, you and me; God calls us to fellowship and gives satisfactory answers, he grants supernatural comfort, conviction, repentance, excitement, power, joy, etc. manifest in varying degrees of expression as God determines when we gather.

Like the Corinthian Christians you too are described as set apart and in a holy position before God because of your faith in Jesus.  We are the church of God, “…together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours.”[3]  As you pursue our Lord and allow him to direct your life, even as you fall down and get back up and keep trailing this narrow road, hence your life in Christ, I am very thankful for you!  I appreciate you!  If I haven’t met you, I know if I speak with you and I hear the words of a regenerate heart, I will appreciate and thank God for you, with much joy!

“I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.”[4]  In fact, we have reasons to be thankful in Christ: enriched in every way—in speech and knowledge.  Why am I enriched by gathering with brothers on Fridays and gathering with the body of believers—the church on Sundays? You know and long for supernatural enrichment in loving developing youth, teaching Christ-centered principles, biblical truth lived, and modeling prayer.  The energy of vibrant kids running around expressing joy on Sunday mornings and learning about Jesus in Sunday school is exciting joyful work!  We engage and thrive in gathering because of the ever-increasing testimony about Jesus becomes abundantly clear and confirmed in regenerate hearts like yours!  This recurring truth is an absolute joy that readily brings tears of joy to my eyes.

Oh what a Savior
Isn’t he wonderful
Sing alleluia, Christ is risen
Bow down before him
For he is Lord of all
Sing alleluia, Christ is risen

O come to the altar
The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Bear your cross as you wait for the crown
Tell the world of the treasure you’ve found
