Friday Morning Prayer :)… March 2, 2018
March 3, 2018 - 7 minutes readDay by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Every day, the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He Whose Name is Counselor and Pow’r.
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He Whose Name is Counselor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.[1]
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.[1]
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.[2]

A brother prayed at church that we would “grow in this mercy given us.”[3] A humble prayer request that is consistent with God’s revealed will. “Epaphras…. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.”[4] This is certainly my appeal before the throne of grace. I want to know the mercy of God, the depths of his love, the transforming power that dictates how I choose to work-out this great salvation.
We sing the old hymn, “All to Jesus I surrender all to him I freely give I will ever love and trust him in his presence daily live.”[5] We grow and mature as we pursue our God in Spirit and truth. I need to surrender all at the cross and daily cry out for the love of God to be my comfort. I want to trust him and live in his guiding presence. In Christ, you want to grow in this way too. The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. So, we acknowledge our weaknesses and earnestly pray for God to teach us through his Word and supernatural power.
“Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.”[6] This “taught by God” phrase is referring to a divine relationship through the indwelling Holy Spirit.[7] This is basic gospel truth. Our God supernaturally indwells all truly regenerate hearts. God teaches us to love and helps us as we grow and mature. The Apostle John, “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death.”[8]
Pursuing fellowship with God and believers is the result of supernatural love. I was talking with a brother about genuine fellowship. For those in Christ growing and maturing in love, “there is a deep union, a state of fellowship whether together or not.”[9] We pray for our brothers and sisters when we are together or when apart. We trust our God with those we love and know they too are held in the Might hand of God. We have God indwelling and our common bond is our Savior, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
This is the “most precious treasure to be imagined!”[10] God is awe inspiring for those who truly believe. This is not theoretical. It is experienced and lived every day by God’s mercy and abundant grace. How to truly appreciate this truth? Our call is to grow and mature, to ever explore the beauty of the gospel and the intricacies so very practical and relevant to our daily walk with him. Moreover, we must share this truth. Talk about it, hide it on my heart, and overflow at every opportunity. Why? “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.”[11] Salvation, fellowship and Joy!
Help me then in every tribulation
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.
