Friday Morning Prayer:)… June 29, 2017

June 29, 2017 - 6 minutes read
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.[1]

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”[2]

Beloved in Jesus,

I want to approach the Throne of Grace with confidence!   Increase my confidence Lord.  I need, you do too, a consistent, daily, moment by moment confidence that stems from an overwhelming trust in, and dependence on our gracious God.   There are those days when prayer is a struggle.  Truly, the necessary discipline of engaging prayer.

Honest before our God.  Like the disciples in Mark 8, my heart hardens, I have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear.  And, I don’t remember!  I take things for granted!  Moreover, we can understand the struggle for the father of the demon possessed boy in chapter 9, after years of experiencing suffering, pain, and uncertainty… doubt manifests.  Jesus addresses my doubt, yours too.  May my regenerate heart, especially through suffering and brokenness, resist the tendency to doubt.  Although my faith is imperfect, the power of God has no limit.  In fact, Jesus, “…the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being…”[3] dwells in us to help us in our time of need!  Yes!

May we too exclaim, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”[4]   The honesty of a father seeking help for his demon-possessed son.  An honest cry as we wrestle with God in prayer and strive to overcome or endure, as God determines, the struggles inherent in this life.  I can make requests and give thanks, and go through the motions, but the genuine high and holy call is supernatural!  Truly, a life changing belief, trusting God with everything!  Earnestly asking, seeking, and continuously knocking!

Beloved, I sincerely pray you are experiencing the rest of God through an active abiding in Christ.  I can’t do anything, nor can you to earn favor from our merciful and gracious God.  Jesus resolved our sin and separation problem through the cross.  Through him, we have redemption, forgiveness, and supernatural power to overcome sin and pray effectively.  In fact, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”[5]  How cool is that!  Be ye encouraged, and excited by this living truth!

“Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.”[6]

 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.

You are invited to join faithful gals for a time of encouragement and intentional prayer.
How grateful we are for the prayers of many!  Truly, I help and I get your help through prayer.  Our sovereign God working his plan full of mercy and grace, even through the prayers of the saints.  Thank you sisters for gathering to pray with confidence before the Throne of Grace.

Brothers are meeting too!  Alpine Youth Center (5th Friday) 2153 Arnold Way.  Alpine.  0730.
Join us!  All brothers in Jesus are welcome to participate in earnest prayer.  This is a time of encouragement to love and be loved by genuine brothers.  A brief time to share, or just sit and be in the presence of family, or laugh, sing, rejoice… we have no agenda other than to intentionally pray as the Holy Spirit leads our time together.  So, if you have an hour in the AM, and have been contemplating a visit, please do not hesitate.  It is always a joy to see brothers!  No expectations, no requirements other than a love for Jesus and the brethren!   Peace.

Persevere in Jesus!
