Friday Morning Prayer:)… June 27, 2019

Like the woman at the well, I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy.
And then I heard my Savior speaking—
“Draw from My well that never shall run dry.”  

Fill my cup, Lord;
I lift it up Lord;
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul.
Bread of Heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole.  

There are millions in this world who are seeking
For pleasures earthly goods afford.
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.[1]  

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”[2]

Do I really know God?  Yes.  I know God the Father sent his Son as my atoning sacrifice.  The life, suffering, and death of Jesus reconciles the depraved heart and grants a new proper perspective in an evolving dynamic relationship with God.   But, do I really know God or do I know about God?  I know about God through his Living Word: the mercy of God, the cross, the shed blood, forgiveness of sins, sustaining grace to live this life, the power of God indwelling, the Holy Spirit leading and empowering and many other biblical concepts are clearly revealed in the Holy Scriptures.  “We were included in Christ when we heard the word of truth, the gospel of our salvation.  Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance…”[3]  To really know God is to know about God through his illuminating power as he reveals himself through his Word.  Moreover, this supernatural knowing and experiencing God in a real and genuine relationship is exciting, dynamic, full of love and grace which we constantly pursue.  

God had mercy on my soul even as I was “gratifying the cravings of [my] sinful nature… But because of his great love for [me], God, who is rich in mercy, made [me] alive with Christ even when [I was] dead in transgressions—it is by grace [I] have been saved.”[4]  This is an essential biblical truth for every regenerate heart God has chosen to be conformed to the likeness of his Son.[5]  We live and work-out this great salvation!  I want to know God better, so do you.  It takes work, but it is worth the effort.  And, God gives us his power.  As I strive to direct my focus and acknowledge God in everything, it becomes more evident that God is present through everything.  God is molding and shaping you and me into the image of Jesus through the highs and lows of this life.     

I want to recognize and understand the presence of God daily in my life, you do too!  We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.[6]  Day after day we get up to go to work and do our daily, weekly routines.  I want to hear God communicating so I can trust, obey, and do the things he has planned for me to do.  Beloved, I pray you too desire to have intimate fellowship with God all the time and long to hear him direct you at every turn this life brings.   Do I know God like that?  I’d have to say not to the degree necessary.  I do believe.  I write to encourage you and myself.  We have been called to engage in the process of developing spiritual power, to have daily communion, fellowship, and overflow the love of God in our daily, even moment by moment experiences.  

I need the prayers of the saints!  You need God’s help through prayer too.  Let us pray for one another and ask God for discernment to hear his leading, to experience his indwelling power, and to manifest the fruit of the Spirit all the time as we never grieve the Spirit, but heed his leading in everything.  It has been said that God is always at work.  God is always speaking to us I heard brother preach recently.  God does speak through his Word to our regenerate mind, intuition, dreams, and through other Spirit-filled people.  Please Lord, soften my heart and give us sensitive spiritual ears to hear, humble hearts to receive, and supernatural joy to rejoice as we see you, hear you, and know you better as we obey you in our circumstances, our relationships, our quiet time, our dreams, thoughts, in everything we long for You, our ever-present God.  

So my brother if the things that this world gives you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray—
