Friday Morning Prayer:)… July 30, 2021
July 30, 2021 - 4 minutes readBlessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels, descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.[1]
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin.[2]
______________
How is my attitude? I strive to arm myself and be consistent in praying relying on God’s supernatural power to truly live and enjoy this Christ life. The struggle, the battle, the pursuit is real and necessary. The world, the flesh, the devil disrupting subtly, overtly, in varying ways and intensities to get you and me off the narrow path, even in my attitude. You know those days when overreaction prevails, defensive responses, critical comments, complaining, oh this or that person, event, or circumstances. I, and you too, have to work to restrain, listen well, pray continually, live at peace, and remember ‘This is my story, this is my song’ all the time every day!
Christ suffered and died for my sins and for the sins of every genuine believer. If I have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion… In Christ, we are called to be like-minded, have the same love, be one in spirit and purpose…. Our attitudes should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.[3] Be ye encouraged and supernaturally strengthened as you arm yourself with the same attitude as Jesus. Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood! The awe of saving grace, your born-again experience, a truly regenerate heart, once spiritually dead, now alive in Christ, and dead to sin! Thank you, Lord.
Jesus said, “…If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Beloved, in Jesus, we are called to die to self so that we might truly live in Christ! This life is full of distractions, so many ways to quench the Spirit of God indwelling. No! Fight the good fight of faith! Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you.”[4] God preserves his own and empowers you and me to persevere in Christ!
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
