Friday Morning Prayer:)… July 2, 2020
July 2, 2020 - 7 minutes readOh I’ve heard a thousand stories
Of what they
Think You’re like
And I’ve heard the tender whispers
Of love in the dead of night
Well You tell me that You’re pleased
And that I’m never alone
You’re a good, good Father
It’s Who You are
It’s Who You are
It’s Who You are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am
It’s who I am
It’s who I am
Oh I’ve seen
Many searching for
Answers far and wide
But I know
We’re all searching for answers
That You provide
‘Cause You know just
What we need before we say a word…[1]
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.[2]

“I don’t want the feeling to stop” expressed my son last week after attending college group, feeding on the Word of God, worshipping together, and enjoying fellowship with peers. A joy to my ears to hear his sincere words knowing that my fast-developing precious son recognizes the powerful affectionate presence of God. This week he highlighted his intentional pursuit to pray throughout the day with an increased desire to be filled with the Spirit of Jesus and empowered to live a life worthy of the Lord—to fight for supernatural joy, fight against natural flesh desires and worldly distractions that inevitably quench the Spirit’s fire. He concluded that praying throughout the day and mindful of the Lord is good, but insufficient for him to experience that same degree of overflowing supernatural joy. To keep the spiritual fire burning to the point of sensing the Lord with increased affections, even overflowing love, joy, and peaceful patient lovingkindness toward oneself and others, “I can’t short-change the Lord.” He expressed the variability of sensing God, even enjoying him, to be correlated with the presence or absence of self-disciplined behaviors: spending quality time reading—thinking about, hence meditating on the Word, and devoting time in private prayer.
This morning I read, “As the source of every good pleasure, he himself pleases fully and finally. If that’s not how we experience him, we are either dead, or blind, or sleepwalking.”[3] I am every-thankful for the supernatural process of becoming—to be as God is! Brother Mark teaching, preaching, encouraging from Psalm 19 highlighted that “the heavens declare the glory of God!” Our God is constant never changing—you, in Christ, are enabled, empowered to see with spiritual eyes, to come alive and be awakened with greater vigor and vitality, especially as you engage, wrestling, clinging, fighting for true, genuine, obvious supernatural life-changing overflowing love, joy, peace manifest by his strength, his glory and majesty revealed through you and me in thought, affections, and behavior as we hunger and thirst for the glorious depths of our Mighty God!
Your regenerate heart and mine too recognize the fruit-bearing power of the gospel—The Holy Spirit revealed the significance of the cross, mercy and abundant grace supernaturally experienced and sustaining to this very day. I pray, with your spiritual eyes wide open with ever-increasing clarity, that you would know more and more our loving caring compassionate, ‘good good Father’ who is mindful of you, knows your struggles and is molding and shaping you into the image of Jesus through every trial, heartache, tribulation, especially as you, and me too, surrender all at the throne of grace. Overflowing grace every moment of every day! “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”[4] Be ye encouraged!
“The Lord your God is with you; he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”[5]
…You are perfect in all of Your ways
Perfect in all of Your ways
You are perfect in all of Your ways to us
Love so undeniable
I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable
I can hardly think
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still into
Love, love, love…
