Brothers! & Sisters in Jesus! A few words of encouragement reflecting 1 Peter 2:4-12. We are going through 1 Peter in our Wednesday night Bible talk.
Let’s meet to pray in the AM. If you can make it! Please do. First Baptist, Alpine. Men at 0730 & Gals at 0900.
Yey! If you can’t make it, be ye encouraged to join in fellowship with other Christians where you will notice and be known for supernatural love through God’s abundant grace and genuine transforming power.
A long day, but good! The joy of loving men and sharing gospel, life-changing truth is most satisfying. The awe experienced- the necessity of relying on the Spirit of Jesus and recognizing his power in our midst. I am not well equipped or extraordinarily gifted, you may not be either, but God works through faithful men who rely on his empowering, trust his promises, proclaim his faithfulness to help you, and me, as we persevere in Christ.
Peter, “As you come to him, the living Stone- rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him…” I am encouraged by and hold fast to encouraging biblical truth! We are like living stones being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through our Lord Jesus. Amazing!
I encouraged men tonight with these amazing words of encouragement. The appeal to trust Jesus as Lord and Savior- and remember, Jesus is our, “… precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
Are you the one who believes? If so, you know, “…this stone is precious.” The power of God to help you through those difficult moments, days, weeks; we trust our gracious God who gives mercy, and love, comfort, and overflowing joy! But to those who do not believe, they stumble at the sovereign hand of God because they disobey the gospel message. We pray continually, God have mercy, even through my pleading words, grant saving grace, a repentant heart, and a supernaturally changed life that truly believes, to your glory.
Peter proclaims Who we are: a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God. Therefore, we are now inclined to “declare the praises of him who called [you and me]out of darkness into his wonderful light.” Beloved, we are in Christ and belong to God, living stones being built into a spiritual house! Rejoice! You and me and the many who believe have received mercy!
We live through this life as light in the darkness. Peter, he, by the inspiration of the Spirit, urges you and me too to abstain from sinful desires. As I know my status in this world, an alien and stranger chosen by God, I choose daily to live in Christ and pursue holiness. I have to mortify my flesh/sinful nature daily. I prepare my mind for action and with fervency, diligence, persistence, humble before the throne of grace, I engage in the battle against all those sinful desires that wage war against my soul, my being, my regenerate heart where God dwells. In his power, you overcome as do I, especially as we pursue our gracious God at every front, every turn, every intrusive thought, every worldly temptation, every spiritual attack. Help, draw us near, precious Redeemer, our Lord Jesus.
Rejuvenate, renew your mind, fellowship with family in Jesus, and help another through your prayers. A kind word, and listening ear, just being present is a reflection of the amazing light we share in Christ.
