Friday Morning Prayer:)… January 9, 2020
January 9, 2020 - 6 minutes readI sought the Lord
And He answered me
And delivered me
From every fear
Those who look on Him
Are radiant
They’ll never be ashamed
They’ll never be ashamed
This poor man cried
And the Lord heard me
And saved me from
My enemies
The Son of God
Surrounds His saints
He will deliver them
He will deliver them
Magnify the Lord with me
Come exalt His name together
Glorify the Lord with me
Come exalt His name forever
Taste and see
That the Lord is good
Oh bless us here
Who hides in Him
Oh fear the Lord
Oh all you saints
He’ll give you everything
He’ll give you everything[1]
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”[2]

How do I discern God’s supernatural presence? Do I have eyes to see ears to hear? Have the things of this world distracted me? What blurs my sight and dulls my hearing? I was sitting with a couple of brothers last week sharing, exploring, and encouraging one another. A partial comment, “as we sit here sensing the Holy Spirit…” stuck with me. Through the flow of conversation with love for one another demonstrated by interest, concern, and heartfelt prayers for one another, I too sensed God’s supernatural presence. One brother acknowledged and we all could discern the reality of God’s comforting, empowering presence. Our goal is to grow in grace and experience an ever-deepening joy in our shared faith! You have been chosen by God Almighty! We have been given eyes to see and ears to hear! The Spirit of Jesus indwelling empowers us to love others more and more and glorify him with our lives.
This Christ-life is not just going through the motions; anyone can do that! “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts…”[3] “…as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, [we] clothe [y]ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” With awe-struck supernatural intention we, “[b]ear with each other and forgive whatever grievances [we] may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”[4] The presence of God compels us to “Sing a new song lift up your voice in the dark sing as a new one sing as though you were in love lift your eyes, see the King stand in awe now and sing!”[5]
“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”[6] I pray you are unshaken regardless of painful trials and circumstances. It is true for you in Christ that no life circumstance can alter your regenerate heart in the present or future; the God of all comfort holds you in his sovereign hand at every turn; during those times of weakness, overwhelming struggles as we endure in these jars of clay, a broken heart, loss, emotional pain, God cares, our ever-present refuge. I get distracted, my sight is blurred and I do not hear well at times, but God reveals himself through a Psalm, a hymn, the lyrics of a spiritual song, a faithful brother in Christ, through joyful fellowship with the saints, pursuit in prayer the Spirit reminds, strengthens, comforts, and helps you and me to taste and see, hear so clearly. More and more, Lord, we pray. “The Lord redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.”[7]
Magnify the Lord with me
Come exalt His name together
Glorify the Lord with me
Come exalt His name forever
Let us bless the Lord
Every day and night
Never ending praise
May our incense rise
Magnify the Lord with me
Come exalt His name together
Glorify the Lord with me
Come exalt His name forever
