Friday Morning Prayer:)… January 7, 2022
January 7, 2022 - 5 minutes readWhere He may lead me I will go,
For I have learned to trust Him so,
And I remember ’twas for me,
That He was slain on Calvary.
Jesus shall lead me night and day,
Jesus shall lead me all the way,
He is the truest Friend to me,
For I remember Calvary.
O I delight in His command,
Love to be led by His dear hand;
His divine will is sweet to me,
Hallowed by bloodstained Calvary.[1]
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”[2]

The crowd, “got into the boats and went to Capernaum were in search of Jesus.” Does the heart of mankind seek God out? Yes, motivated by the same human survival instincts, wants, self-preserving desires the crowd had. Jesus said, “You are looking for me, not because you saw the miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.” Jesus cared for the people and multiplied the fish and loaves to feed over five thousand people. They wanted more and pursued with determined effort to get their fill. Week after week, food is given for those in need, clothing, toiletries, necessities for survival offered free of charge. By God’s provisional grace, the saints of God motivated by love and compassion encourage people to go to churches, para-church ministries, receive necessary sustenance, and hundreds of people pursue, driven by the survival instinct to get their needs met. Jesus said, “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”
For many years I enjoyed working with the saints of God, offering material necessities to the poor, struggling, and disabled. The Lord blessed our efforts as we worked together, prayed together, and, hoped together that many would receive the food that endured to eternal life. I recall, Jon Lutz, from Mt. View Bible, praying with people, and multitudes lined up to pray with our brother! It was amazing! Yes, lots of people came to get their fill, along with new clothes, backpacks, shoes, etc. But, there were those, we believed, prayed for, and joyfully served, that the Father was drawing to Jesus, even through our efforts.
The consistent proclamation is Jesus! The needs of the crowd were met, but as their instincts kept them coming, Jesus gave hard teaching. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If a man eats of this bread, he will live forever…. I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”[3]
Beloved in Christ, Jesus is every genuine Christian’s real food and real drink that produces a real, supernatural Christ-life that endures to eternal life! Be encouraged, as you continually rely on Jesus, pursue him in prayer, through the living word, the daily pursuit to be fully nourished, as he gives you, and me too, power in the Holy Spirit to live this life well in intimate, most satisfying relationship. Thank you, Lord, Jesus.
Jesus shall lead me night and day,
Jesus shall lead me all the way,
He is the truest Friend to me,
For I remember Calvary.
Onward I go, nor doubt nor fear,
Happy with Christ my Savior near,
Trusting that I some day shall see,
Jesus my Friend of Calvary.
