Friday Morning Prayer:)… January 7, 2021

January 8, 2021 - 6 minutes read

Create in me a clean heart, O God
And renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God
And renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not away from Thy presence, O Lord
And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me, the joy of Thy salvation
And renew a right spirit within me[1]

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.”[2]

How then should I live?  As a genuine regenerate Christian saved from the eternal agony of hell, and the habitual inherent selfish patterns with continual disregard for the holy, I now resist those arrogant sinful ways of being!  Why?  You and me too, with every person surrendered at the cross recognizing Jesus as Savior and Lord are born anew.  “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”[3]  We take this in Christ life seriously and strive in his power to act, think, respond accordingly, praying desperately, trusting with increasing measure our gracious God.  Be ye encouraged to live intentionally pursuing the Spirit of Jesus indwelling and joyfully overflowing.

Whatever the circumstances in our cultural, political, and mostly pagan, selfish, no room for the holiness of God world, we learn and even desire as we are directed by the Spirit to be the light of Christ, living consistently controlled, upright, respectful, holy and honorable lives.  With the Psalmist we pray continually, “Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.  Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.”[4]  A brother recently said, “we do not trust temporal things.”[5]  Our God is sovereign over all things!  My call and yours is to live our lives qualitatively different from those of people who have no trust in God’s fatherly care, sovereign grace, and life-changing power.  In fact, you are the light of Christ shining in the darkness!  We pray for folks spiritually dead and naturally residing in the darkness that they too would be given saving mercy to genuinely know and experience the light of Christ.

Brother/sister, be encouraged as the salt of the earth.  Hold fast to the word of God and act as a preservative in this world by conforming to biblical truths, displaying healthy, peaceful, humble, loving words from a truly regenerate heart.  One commentator said, “called to be a moral disinfectant in a world where moral standards are low, constantly changing, or non-existent…”[6]  You are the light of the world and we counter darkness, evil, arrogance, pride as God empowers with humble boldness, gentleness, and respect toward others—supernatural love evident toward the weak, the downcast, the discouraged, and especially those needing illuminating saving grace.

I got a call Thursday evening from a brother in Christ who serves wholeheartedly at Abundant Bread of Salvation—Brian Slater will join the brothers for Friday morning prayer to share @0730 for 15 to 20 minutes about what God has called and equipping him to do.  Tom and Donna Bolz served in Israel with Brian.  It was a joy talking with Brian and the resonating connection evident because of our shared faith.   Brothers are invited to join us via the link below.
