Friday Morning Prayer:)… January 15, 2020

January 23, 2020 - 7 minutes read

My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love
At the cross

My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose, in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed
At the cross

I rejoice in my Redeemer
Greatest Treasure,
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him, no other.
My soul is satisfied in Him alone.

As summer flow’rs we fade and die
Fame, youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross[1]

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant…”[2]

I need to be reminded of the wonders of God.  Reading the word hearing God, words of encouragement, words of power, words of love.  The living word stirring emotions triggering thoughts and questions.  The wonder of God’s grace applied truth as the word of God cuts to the core exposing motivations and influencing every pursuit.  Indeed, I confess ‘my worth and my unworthiness, my value fixed—my ransom paid at the cross.’  We experience true life when we lay our life down.  God calls we surrender all; a daily surrender that I might live fully to the glory of God.

A daily surrender humble before Almighty God is the Christ-life.  A daily taking up my cross united with Jesus comforted from his love, fellowship with the Spirit, empowered and experiencing tenderness and compassion with like-minded believers joined together to glorify God with our transformed lives.  The supernatural love of our indwelling God binds us together at the cross and the purpose of God is fulfilled through each regenerate heart.[3]

In Christ, you know the fellowship with the Spirit; a filling and overflowing with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that is readily recognized as empowering fellowship with the Holy Spirit.  Moreover, keeping in step with the Spirit produces a love for others creating desires for genuine relational Christ-centered fellowship where the fruit of the Spirit is magnified and God is glorified.[4]

I am thankful for our gracious God indwelling, especially as the Spirit brings to mind the word read and hidden in my heart.  You know this supernatural experience when the flesh wants what it wants and the Spirit reminds you, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others [more significant] than yourself.[5]  It is clear as we walk, talk, think, and speak like Jesus, truly Jesus indwelling, we will “…look not only to our own interests but also to the interests of others.”[6]   This past Sunday, brother Mark in preaching on Ephesians 6 highlighted encouraging Spirit-filled words:  The full armor of God makes us effective and safe.  In Christ, we never take it off!  All of the armor is operational in my life and yours as we journey this life with Jesus.

As your soul is satisfied in Christ alone, be encouraged as we walk worthy of our calling in righteousness!  The Lord is my shield!  God wants to empower you!  Pursue and know with confidence God speaks with us, and to you personally directly:  in your mind’s eye, through the word, through another, a song, a hymn, etc.  Help me Lord to hear you:

We have truth in our lives   Jesus is the way, truth, and life!

·         We walk in supernatural faith/belief

·         We dwell in righteousness in all contexts all the time

·         We hide the word of God in our hearts

·         Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests praying for all the saints

·         We share the gospel with boldness humbly asking for mercy.[7]

Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him!
Let the amen sound from His people again;
Gladly forever adore Him.[8]

I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom’s fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross

Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed – my ransom paid
At the cross
