Friday Morning Prayer:)… January 12, 2017

January 12, 2017 - 7 minutes read

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.[1]

“…And this is how we know that he lives in us: we know it by the Spirit he gave us.”[2]

Beloved in Jesus!

There are so many distractions and thoughts that hinder my ability to write she exclaimed.  Therefore, a question was posed, “how do you prepare to write?”  I thought about it on and off this week.  I know what I do, and I know why I am compelled to write.   For me, the quiet hours of the night, listening to traditional hymns, reading the Scripture, and crying out in prayer for the Spirit to lead my thoughts, move my heart, help me to encourage others with simple reflection through written words and highlighting  gospel truth.

I have said in days past, I write because of my compelling need to reflect and a strong desire to encourage others to persevere through the struggles inherent in this life.  To this end I desperately need the Spirit to guide and direct, and allow God to prepare the way for those who need an encouraging word.  That be you and me!

The structure, habit, consistency of writing helps nurture my fellowship with our God.  Why? The process of seeking God more intently through study of Scripture, prayer, hungering for illumination, insights, wisdom, and crying out for the Spirit to fill me and overflow through the process is most rewarding.  Of course that pursuit of God is a daily process God intends for each genuinely transformed believer to experience.  I pray for more and more of that supernatural experience, the joy, sweet fellowship with God every day realized in your life!  It is evident for me, especially when fellowshipping with brothers, and I am always thankful for the joy and compelling desire to encourage others.

By the leading of the Spirit we mortify the misdeeds of our flesh and have the assurance that we are indeed children of God!  By the Spirit indwelling we cry out in prayer, you know and long for that supernatural intimacy with God through our Lord Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit![3]  Yes!  I have to be careful how I live, you too!  We are to be wise and make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.[4]

How then shall we live?  I tell you I struggle with the way of the sin nature and daily have to fight and overcome with the help of the Spirit.  I want to live a life worthy of the calling!  You do too!  Brother/sister, I pray you have solid transformed folks around you to love you and encourage you to fight and never give up!  I need you, and you need me, we need each other in the body of Christ to help us work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

A faithful brother gave me honest feedback this week.  His perception, my sin.  I am thankful for brothers who challenge me to be completely humble, gentle, patient, and daily encourage me to pursue maturity, especially in my ability to bear with one another in love.  Overcome we do!  “We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit….  And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.”[5]

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives.
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living just because He lives.

And then one day I’ll cross the river,
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know He lives.
