Friday Morning Prayer:)… February 27, 2020

February 27, 2020 - 8 minutes read

The Lord of glory! Who is He?
Who is the King of glory?
Only the Son of God can be
the Christ, the King of glory:
Consider all His wounds, and see
How Jesus’ death upon the tree
Proclaims Him King of glory.

Above all heavens,
at God’s right hand,
Now sits the King of glory;
The angels by His favour stand
Before the throne of glory:
Swiftly they fly at His command,
To guard His own of every land,
To keep the heirs of glory.

Death and the grave
confess the Lamb
To be the King of glory;
The powers of darkness
dread His name,
All creatures show His glory:
He said, “Ere Abraham was I AM”—
Jesus is evermore the same,
Th’Almighty King of glory.[1]

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory. “[2]

The Lord Almighty is glorious and calls us to reflect His glory in our day to day, hour by hour, moment by moment busy and easily distracted lives.  In the midst of doing this or that at home with family, at work relating, in conversation listening and responding, doing, fixing, wrenching, mowing, weeding, organizing, and problem-solving, studying and relaxing our God never leaves nor forsakes his own.  The daily pursuit, and many times a struggle against the flesh, the world, the devil and the evil forces in the spiritual realm, is constant mindfulness of God, you and me actively dwelling in his sanctuary as he resides in our regenerate hearts.

By God’s grace, the intentional pursuit is to always be in awe and full of wonder that our God is sovereign all-powerful full of glory high and exalted worthy of the highest praises!   With the Psalmist we humbly acknowledge, “… I by your great mercy will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.  Lead me, O Lord in your righteousness….”[3]  There are those necessary times when we literally bow down and cry out to God!  I am recognizing there are also those many necessary recurring times to go about my day and in my mind bow down and pursue God.  In my mind’s eye and you in yours too, especially as we intentionally feast and feed off scripture and think about the living piercing word, spiritual songs, hymns, and praiseworthy things, hence as we pray unceasing, God is glorified in and through us.

Jesus said, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.  My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”[4]  Moreover, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”[5]  Absolutely amazing!  Our gracious holy, holy, holy God resides, indwells every regenerate heart!  Brother/sister, embrace this truth with ever-increasing realized joy and overflowing power to live accordingly.  “In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.”[6]

How practical-applicable life-changing very real is our indwelling God?  On Tuesday Michael from the gym said, “I am going soul-winning at 10 am.” A group of folks from his church canvas neighborhoods, yes knocking on doors inviting people to church, sharing the gospel with the goal to make disciples!  Praise God for his over-flowing joy and obedience to God’s leading.   My son Luke shared an experience of a rude store clerk.  He and his friend just attended youth group mindful of living-out our faith.  They responded to rudeness with silence and a smile.  A brother at work was joyfully energized and walking in full-assurance that Jesus helps him in every area of his being, including unforeseen, unpredictable, uncontrollable circumstances.  God guards his own, even commanding angels ‘to keep the heirs of glory!’

You and me are heirs of glory!  Therefore, through indwelling power, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances…  Do not put out the Spirit’s fire;”[7]  “Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and he will come near to you.”[8]  Beloved, together we stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene!  How marvelous how wonderful is my Savior’s love for me![9]

Be ye encouraged this day as you read and are actively mindful of God’s presence.  In Christ, you may ascend the hill of Yahweh and you through the blood of the Lamb have clean hands and a pure heart to enjoy ever-lasting freedom to stand in his holy place.[10]

Thrice happy who in Him believe,
They soon will share His glory;
Born of His Spirit, they receive
His secret pledge of glory:
Taught by His cross,
for sin they grieve;
He calls them brethren,
and they cleave
To Him, their hope of glory.

Sisters in Jesus are meeting to pray.  First Baptist, 1912 Arnold Way, Alpine, 0900

Gals are invited to join for a time of encouragement and intentional prayer.  Week after week faithful women representing various churches gather to enjoy our God and one another in prayer and fellowship.  Thank you!  If you have time in your Friday morning schedule go be supported, encouraged, and magnify the Lord together.

Brothers are meeting too!  Alpine Youth Center 2153 Arnold Way, Alpine, 0730

It is a joy to meet with diverse fellas who desire to seek the Lord together, glorify our God together, and pray as the Holy Spirit leads our time together.   No agenda or requirements other than a humble heart before the throne of grace in need of continuous divine intervention in all areas of our lives.   We too have been joining for years and it is always a joy when brothers meet together in unity.
