Friday Morning Prayer…:) February 22, 2018

February 22, 2018 - 7 minutes read
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.[1]

“But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible.  This is why it is said: ‘Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.’ ”[2]

“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead,” Graham once wrote. “Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”[3]

Most of us have been influenced in some way or degree by Billy Graham.  I recall sitting in amazement of the magnitude of people attending his crusades.  Years ago now, his crusade came through East Bay California and the networking with churches, the follow-up and the emphasis on making disciples was impressive.  I am thankful God empowered this man to preach the gospel with clarity.  He was an evangelist who God sent to open the eyes of many so they too would know the power of God unto salvation through our Lord Jesus.

By God’s abundant grace a life consistently compatible with God.  Oh the necessity, yet that besetting neglect.  I know I should spend more time in prayer.  Therein is reward, supernatural intimacy with God, his comfort, assurance, empowering, and the reality of his presence directing the steps of my life.  Billy Graham understood the necessity of continually leaning on the Everlasting Arms in prayer. “I have so many decisions to make each day, and so many problems, that I have to pray all the time.”[4]

In Christ, you too know the necessity of self-discipline and the heart cry as you fervently engage and intentionally pursue our gracious God with an ever-increasing intensity.  Beloved, I encourage you to keep pursuing God in prayer, me too!  Recognize in awe; “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”[5]  Because of God’s mercy, we have been saved from the penalty of sin by grace through faith alone.  We have been given “…the right to become the children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”[6]

The Apostle John, “…if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”[7]  The regenerate heart has a longing for supernatural fellowship with God who is light and calls us to be light as well.  I, and we in Christ, together want to know the depths of genuine prayer and fellowship with God.  With the psalmist we cry out, “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.”[8]

I need God’s empowering activity, you do too.  His light shines downward for our salvation and enables us to walk in the light.  “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Live as children of light…”[9]  Pray with me for the leading of the Holy Spirit and the obedience to follow.  Please Lord, increase that longing for a life filled with the Spirit and a continual death to my selfish tendencies.  Most gracious God, give all who humbly pray that supernatural touch that captures the heart, mind, and soul totally surrendered to Thy love and power.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender,
Now I feel the sacred flame;
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!
