Friday Morning Prayer:)… December 29, 2016

December 30, 2016 - 4 minutes read

I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood’s atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.

O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.[1]

“I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.  I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”[2]

Beloved in Jesus,

The obvious contrast!  The earnest desire to humbly live in Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, calm supernatural power longed for every moment of every day.  However, worldly distractions, arrogance, irritability, even insecurities tempting the way of the flesh.  No!  With the psalmist we cry out,

“Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God.  Give me relief from my distress, be merciful to me and hear my prayer.”[3]  “Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing.  Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God for to you I pray.”[4]

Sister/Brother in Christ, you know your struggles, the battle to work out your salvation with fear and trembling before our holy God.  I have not obtained where I need to be in this call to live by faith in Jesus.  You know, that desire “…to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain the resurrection from the dead.”[5]

I need encouragement! You do too!  I am thankful to have the opportunity to encourage you from the Scriptures.   As this New Year approaches, may we press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us… in his strength striving to live up to what we have attained in Jesus.  Truly victorious in Jesus!

A crazy busy day today!  However, God is faithful! Let’s pray, knowing our God will answer and give ear to our unceasing prayers because of his great love for each of us all the time, even when we fall prey to the temptations of the flesh. Persevere in Jesus!

I heard about His healing,
Of His cleansing pow’r revealing.
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, “Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,”
And somehow Jesus came and bro’t
To me the victory.

I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I’ll sing up there
The song of victory.
