April 10, 2020 - 5 minutes read

Great is the Lord
So worthy of praise
Great is the Lord

One generation will
Commend Your kingdom
To one another
They will speak of You
And I will meditate
On Your wonder

And they, they will speak
Of Your glorious splendor
Of Your majesty
Everyday I’ll praise Thee
Forever and ever

Everyday I will praise
Everyday I will praise
For You open Your hand
And satisfy desires of all things
My God, the King

The Lord is gracious
And slow to anger
He is rich in love
He is good to all[1]

The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all…[2]

Where is God right now during this coronavirus pandemic?  God is sovereign over everything from the creation of the heavens, earth, stars, sun, moon, etc. Your God and mine is the only sovereign King.  He is worthy of praise for ever and ever exalted omnipresent, everywhere always.  He graciously gives breath and sovereignly knows about every suffering, tragedy, affliction, struggle, anxious thoughts, death and recovery.  “…he has compassion on all he has made.”[3]  “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”[4]

Beloved, find comfort through the Spirit of Jesus as the living word is illuminated in your heart and mind, helping you to endure, to repent from unbelief, to cry out in desperation, grow in grace, maturing in faith with overflowing joy as you and me, and every genuine believer fights through every fiery furnace meant to refine, humble, and empower us to reflect our glorious God!

With the uncertainty of what tomorrow brings may God give many opportunities now and in days to come, should the Lord tarry, to offer eternal hope in Christ.  “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.  To one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life.”[5]  Please God, have mercy and open spiritually blind eyes to gospel truth.  We pray, pray, pray for God to orchestrate the necessary humble human response, a contrite heart recognizing the power of the cross, hence the shed blood of the Lamb enabling us to be forgiven and reconciled to God!  Amazing!  Know this, “…its proclamation delights God’s heart, because it centers on the Son whom he loves.”[6]

Paul, in writing to the church at Corinth, “Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.”[7]  We do not lose heart!  Paul writes encouraging truth for us to embrace:

  • “…whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.”
  • “…where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.”
  • “And, we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord…”[8]

The new covenant brings righteousness!  The cross, and resurrection, new life in Christ, a new creation you are in Christ!  As the hymn goes, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus…”[9]  We take up our cross and follow our gracious Lord Jesus to death and new life resurrection!  A great glory that never fades!
