Friday Morning Prayer:)… April 2, 2020

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see:
all I have needed thy hand hath provided–
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.[1]

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” [2]


Amazing love how can it be far too wonderful for me!  There is only one thing left to say, you are worthy… [3]  We echo with the psalmist, “You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hands upon me.  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.”[4] Those in Christ, hence enlightened by the Holy Spirit, because of God’s great faithfulness, his mercy, and love, we are able to grasp with ever-increasing understanding the gospel message revealed by the Holy Spirit.[5] 

In the midst of uncertainty all around, the continual and effective power of the Spirit indwelling gives “a peace that endureth, thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide, strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!”  We sing gospel hymns of old with great conviction and express spiritual truths revealed in the Scriptures because the Spirit of God has revealed to us God’s wisdom and truth.  Thank you, Lord.  “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea…”[6]

The lyrics to the song, ‘I have been liberated… you have been rescued so you can stand and say, I am a child of God’ have a deeper meaning with ever-increasing awe for the regenerate heart, especially as the overwhelming flood prevails!  Moreover, we have peace through the storm reminding ourselves with songs, “I’m no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God.”[7]   Morning by morning new mercies I see all I have needed thy hand hath provided…’  Beloved, “[p]raise, (praise, praise) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any  trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”[8] 

I pray you know with great assurance through every calamity, trial, and hardship, ‘His compassions never fail….’  “I am surrounded by the arms of the Father I am surrounded by songs of deliverance.”[9]

Be ye encouraged as you stay the gospel course and endure in his strength through these uncertain times.  Run to our gracious Lord first!  The news is overwhelming and quite distracting creating in many, all of us to varying degrees, anxious thoughts and worry.  At every turn, every report: loss of life and increasing numbers of suffering we cry out to God in our mind’s eye, we call a brother or sister and pray as the Spirit resides in and among us and strengthens.  

Oh God help me to trust and persevere in trust as you demonstrate your faithfulness every morning, hour, day, and night.  We have a message of hope and pray for opportunities to share the gospel, ‘essential’ good news that has done and is doing wonders as we surrender all before the throne of grace.  

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!


Gals are meeting to pray and have made adjustments to conform to the social distancing guidelines.  We appreciate our sisters and the help given through prayer.
