Friday Morning Prayer:)… April 12, 2018

April 12, 2018 - 6 minutes read
I know not why God’s wondrous grace
To me He hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for His own.

But “I know Whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I’ve committed
Unto Him against that day.”

I know not how this saving faith
To me He did impart,
Nor how believing in His Word
Wrought peace within my heart.[1]

The end of all things is near.  Therefore, be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.  Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.[2]
____________

The already and the not yet is our “life in Christ” process.   We are justified by God through the redeeming work of Christ on the cross.  “…there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”[3]  We walk according to the Spirit being supernaturally assured of our new life in Jesus.  I love this biblical truth and sing with joy we are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!  I know who I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto him against that day.  The sanctification process continues unto that day.  The sinful nature has not yet been eradicated.  Therefore, there is a necessity to continually put to death the deeds of the flesh, a ceaseless vigilance for the Spirit’s help, and a decisive renewal to cloth myself with our Lord Jesus.[4]

In view of God’s mercy, we offer ourselves as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God−which is our spiritual worship.[5]   In the power of the Spirit and newness of life, we renounce the sins of the old life and are committed to living life according to God’s will.   In fact, our obligation is to not live according to the sinful nature but to put to death the misdeeds of the body and live.[6]  Indeed! We are new creations in Christ!  There is much grace given in forsaking the temporary pleasures and pursuing the power, joy, and hope that we have in Jesus.

The regenerate heart readily heeds, “…with regard to your to your former way of life, to put off the old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”[7]  I was once darkness, but now I am light in the Lord.  I desire to find out what pleases the Lord.[8]  Talking with a brother this week we shared about the passion of Jesus indwelling.  Our shared faith, encouraged by supernatural desire, an insatiable desire that has its highs and lows, but nonetheless constant.  God is faithful, forming you, molding us into his holy image.  I pray you are experiencing the joy your salvation.  Be encouraged that your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  And, when Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.[9]

Beloved, be ye empowered to constantly forsake the world system and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.  Fight the good fight of faith.[10]  Pursue God through his word.  Pray unceasingly, join with believers in fellowship, love much and overflow the joy of Jesus.

I know not how the Spirit moves,
Convincing men of sin,
Revealing Jesus through the Word,
Creating faith in Him.

I know not what of good or ill
May be reserved for me,
Of weary ways or golden days,
Before His face I see.

I know not when my Lord may come,
At night or noonday fair,
Nor if I walk the vale with Him,
Or meet Him in the air.
