Help Us Help the Poor: Who, What, Where, When, How, and Why?
October 16, 2011 - 2 minutes readWHO: Compassionate Ministries-a local non-profit-in partnership with Mountain View Bible Church, 2710 Alpine Blvd.
WHAT: We are reaching out to the Poor and Homeless in San Diego. We are gathering donations: clothing, jackets, sleeping bags, backpacks, etc., useable items for those most in need. We also want to invite volunteers to help sort clothes, organize items, and demonstrate acts of kindness through distributing and serving at the event.
WHERE, WHEN, HOW: On Friday Oct 28, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:30ish we will be sorting and organizing. We meet at Mt. View Bible Church if you’d like to come and help. Donations can be dropped off at the church pretty much anytime leading up to the 29th. Sunday morning or any convenient day. If you place a donation bag at the church during the week just give a call so we can pick it up. Let us know if you need a receipt.
Saturday Oct 29th. We meet at Balboa Park at 7:30am -8:00am to set up. The outreach event goes to around 12:30ish. We are right off sixth and Laurel inside the park. We are permitted to serve others at 8th drive at the Pine Grove Picnic Area. If you’d like to car pool or follow, give a call and we will work it out. Moreover, the website CMPPS.org has additional information. Call for driving directions if you haven’t been there before.
WHY: Our motivation comes from the Lord. The Bible instructs us to help those most in need and love all people. It is a real blessing to help and serve others. Most of us need to get out of ourselves and find peace and satisfaction through humbly serving others. Moreover, acts of kindness, and loving others pleases God. The Scriptures teach us to find out and do what pleases God:).
If you have been considering volunteering, but just haven’t had the right opportunity, this might be your call to get involved.
