Your name is a shelter like no other
Your name, let the nations sing it louder
‘Cause nothing has the power to save
But Your name
Friday Morning Prayer! Our time to reflect our entrusted treasure:).
Brothers are meeting at Mt. View Bible. 2710 Alpine Blvd. Alpine. 0730.
Our Sisters In Christ are meeting at First Baptist. 1912 Arnold Way. Alpine. 0900.
I have been thinking about “Jars of clay.” It is evident to me all the time. I get caught up in behavior patterns and neglect to recognize the supernatural power of God through my everyday routines, even when reading Scripture with my boys, or praying, giving thanks, recognizing our God. I mentioned the necessity of examining myself, intentionally, fervently, with a sense of desperation, hunger and thirst crying out to our God with the same intensity as portrayed in the Psalms. Yes! Some days are better than others. Nonetheless, we persevere with all-surpassing power, In Christ!
We endure this sanctifying process and are encouraged because “…we have this treasure…” 2 Cor 4:7a What is it? The Gospel! The light of Christ!:). A treasure indeed that transforms darkness to light, unrighteous to righteous, hate to love, blindness to supernatural sight! :). A continuous transforming power working in and through You and me:). Wow! Think about that…it will fire you up!:).
It seems that this “treasure” is ever increasing, more powerful, greater illumination, even more effective through this broken vessel of clay because of His never changing omnipotence. Moreover, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor 3:17-18.
Even as we gather to pray, we rely on the Holy Spirit to move and function as He determines through us. I long, as you do too, for ongoing and progressive transformation of my character. Our God indwelling: Father, Son, Holy Spirit beckons us, especially me to deeper intimacy, even through the routines, and seemingly mundane.
Jesus, in your name we pray
Come and fill our hearts today
And give us strength to live for You and glorify You name
If you have time after prayer: David Bray has a brother visiting from India. You are invited to the Greek restaurant for fellowship… consider stopping by, the breakfast is good I hear and very reasonably priced:). David Bray wrote,
“Pastor Prekesh Raj. He has planted many churches with the Telugu speaking people. It would be fun for everyone to go to The Greek Restaurant afterward for those who would want to join us for fellowship. ”
A few of us have standing reservations at McDonalds:). This might be a nice change of pace… demonstrate love to each other and to our brother from India.
The Gospel! “All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.” Yes! :). 2 Cor 4:15.
Therefore, Overflow!
LoVe You! Much!
Randall:).
