Friday Morning Prayer:). November 12, 2015

November 12, 2015 - 6 minutes read

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.[1]

Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry for help come to you. Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.[2] Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.[3]

Beloved,

In those necessary times of secret prayer, our daily response to divine love, we cry for help, plead for greater intimacy, comfort, restoration as we express our struggles before the one who alleviates pain, heals our wounds and dries our tears. “He speaks and the sound of his voice is so sweet…”

I pray… sister, brother… YOU In Christ, know today and experience the words of the old hymn, “And He walks with me, and He talks with me, And He tells me I am His own…” Indeed! “He is an ocean of all blessedness, which is ever seeking an outlet to communicate itself to those whom He has loved, chosen, and made His sons and daughters!”[4]

We trust our sovereign God always! Through every circumstance, disappointment, affliction, uncertainty, flawed perceptions…. With the psalmist we echo, “But you, O Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.”[5] God will arise and have compassion! His mercies to all those who look to Him for salvation will not fail! Praise His holy Name!

Like the psalmist, we have an overflowing hope, even in the midst of the storm. Be encouraged! “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”[6] I do not always understand… the “whys” in this complicated life are not completely answered to satisfaction.

However, In Christ… God knows YOU! Our gracious God loves YOU! Humble before the Potter… I make a choice every day to follow Jesus. A co-participation. I, and you too are in a two-way relationship that calls for a response of obedience and loyalty before our sovereign God. I strive in His strength! In light of glory, “Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”[7]

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.[8]

We fight, endure, In Christ, we never give up pursuing God in this life! In the midst of it all… comfort comes, especially when we grasp and embrace the vision of our future In Christ. Can you hear the Hallelujahs of a myriad of diverse folks redeemed and celebrating in glory? Yes! Paul, inspired by God, wrote, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed.”[9]

Oh, God of mine, I’ll have no idols
Oh, God of mine, come lead the way
Oh, God of mine, I’m greatly humbled
This sinner’s heart You came to save

Oh, God of mine through storm and trial
Oh, God of mine through death and grave
Oh, God of mine in resurrection
Your scars display my soul’s refrain

Oh, God of mine who holds all nations

Oh, God of mine who saves the day
Oh, God of mine, Your grace sufficient
And tender mercies new by morn

Oh, God of mine, forever faithful
Oh, God of mine, forever stay
Oh, God of mine, forever after
These eyes upon Your face will gaze[10]
