“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”
Oswald Chambers
“The greatest tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but unoffered prayer.”
F.B. Meyer —
I pray YOU are experiencing God in a powerful way this week through unceasing prayer. In teaching the kids at church this past Sunday, I encouraged them to pray about everything and do it all the time! Moreover, I demonstrated how we can turn to the Psalms and pray them back to our gracious God:
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to HIM, sing PRAISE to HIM; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in HIS HOLY Name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord REJOICE. Look to the Lord and HIS strength; SEEK HIS face ALWAYS.” 105:1-4
“My heart is steadfast, O God; I will SING and make music with ALL my soul….For Great is YOUR LOVE, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; and let YOUR GLORY be over all the earth.” 108: 1, 4-5.
Be steadfast in prayer beloved! May Word of God living and active renew YOU always, through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit:). Oh the depths of prayer to be experienced! Paul instructs us to, “…put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground…” Eph 6:13 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and ALWAYS keep on praying for all the saints.” v. 18.
This morning I experienced “elliptical prayer.” I usually start and close out a workout with 10 minutes on the elliptical machine. Okay, today was time for ten minutes of worship prayer while gliding on the elliptical:). Eyes closed, resisting all distractions and focusing on our mighty, loving, empowering, gracious, and merciful God! People all around… I felt the flesh wanting to resist… I was persistent. Nobody really cares, right? I’m just a guy on the elliptical machine closing his eyes, moving his lips… hey, I had ear buds on, so there’s a guy enjoying his music… it didn’t matter, especially after a few moments into prayer… the Spirit was leading and yes I was enjoying His lead:).
Well, it was a powerful ten minutes of fervent prayer, which empowered the rest of my time at the gym. I went in tired and not feeling overly social. After praying in the Spirit: just letting go, crying out, reflecting Scripture, breath prayers, relinquishing self as completely as I could, praising our Holy God: Father, Son, Holy Spirit… Joy! Joy! The Spirit of God manifest in my heart! YES! YES! A brother I just met walked by as I was praying…as I opened my eyes… he’d been watching me for a minute or so… I smiled :). He pointed upward…All I could say was Praise God! Praise God! I was refreshed and excited about potential opportunities to share Christ with anyone God was drawing to Himself! :).
Let’s pray in the Spirit together on all occasions! And, encourage one another all the more as the Spirit takes us deeper and deeper in our supernatural union with the Lord Jesus. We are “In Christ” and meant to experience Him such that: His death for sin is my death, His resurrection is my resurrection, and His ascension is my ascension. WE, YOU, In Christ, “…have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” Gal 2:20 Moreover, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” Eph 2:6
