Friday Morning Prayer: June 26, 2014

June 26, 2014 - 9 minutes read

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Faithful In Christ,

I pray you are experiencing the JOY and excitement found only In Christ! It’s true! You know that everything in this world: houses, relationships, health, wealth, toys, stuff, education, employment, retirement or whatever it is outside of a relationship with our Lord Jesus is meaningless! No lasting Joy! Jesus said,

“This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my JOY may be in you and that your JOY may be complete.” John 15:8-11

In the context of John 15, Jesus is emphasizing our absolute need to be in relationship with him, “I am the vine you are the branches. If a man [woman] remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. v. 5 Moreover, LOVE unites us to Christ just as branches are united to the vine. The result of being In Christ is: obedience and JOY!

Furthermore, Jesus said, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” v. 12

How cool is the Christian faith?!! Our God loves us so much that He came to earth in the Person of Jesus, He was born into a dirty manger. He grew, worked, sweated, was tempted, loved and healed many, made disciples, lived and taught the gospel, was beaten and murdered on a cross, yet His death, the shedding of His blood, was for a purpose. His death on the cross brought salvation for mankind! You and me dead in our sins were made alive through the sovereign call of God. God’s mercy toward me enabled understanding of my sin before our Holy God! Moreover, His mercy and grace brought about repentance and faith: to run away from sinful ways and pursue Christ! God transforms! A new life “In Christ” full of spiritual vitality and direction! A supernatural relational process for the rest of our days living this life! Praise God!

Really! We Rejoice! I say it again Rejoice!:). In Christ, we are never alone or left as orphans. The Triune God of the universe calls you and me into relationship with Himself! Jesus said, “…On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me and I am in you.” John 14:20. Moreover, “…If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” v. 23 Wow! How cool is that! :).

God indwells each person In Christ! I pray all this I am overflowing about is soothing, encouraging and nourishing to your soul! Get excited! Stay excited! Overflow! When we pray, desire, and pursue God we are refreshed and renewed. Jesus said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” John 7:37b-38.

Moreover, “By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive…” v. 39a Jesus has been glorified and the Holy Spirit is here! “God In us” and among us:). Luke tells us in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses….to the ends of the earth.” Power! To do what? Live the Christian life! Love those around you! Overflow to anyone and everyone willing to listen! Pray Pray Pray for our churches: Pastors, Elders, Worship Leaders, Youth Leaders, those serving week after week. We pray for the lost throughout Alpine and the surrounding communities.

A brother called last night. His work schedule has made it so he can’t make it to the Friday Morning Prayer. However, he assured me with great enthusiasm that God was in control! :). The power of God in Richard is demonstrating a supernatural love for ALL those within his sphere of influence. I could hear the JOY! He said, ” I love and feel (ache) and cry for mercy for them!” YES! YES! Our brother rightly understands, “God put me in my circumstances.” Let’s sing with Richard!

I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love;
I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true,
It satisfies my longings as nothing else would do.

I love to tell the story,
’Twill be my theme in glory,
To tell the old, old story
Of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story, ’tis pleasant to repeat,
What seems each time I tell it more wonderfully sweet; I love to tell the story, for some have never heard The message of salvation from God’s own holy Word.
