Friday Morning Prayer…:) August 10, 2016

August 15, 2016 - 6 minutes read

Like the woman at the well I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy;
And then I heard my Savior speaking:
“Draw from my well that never shall run dry.”

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;
Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Beloved In Christ,

What matters most? Marriage? I love my wife, my boys are a joy, even in the midst of challenges through their developing into young men. Work is good and necessary in order to provide for the needs of my family. Living up to one’s potential, recognizing our God given gifts and actively engaging to glorify God. Loving and pursuing the face of the saints daily, encouraging others, serving, walking, talking, presenting with much humility. All this and more matters, yet what matters most?

To genuinely know and experience the love of God. Do I have the blessed assurance that God loves me? Yes! What is most important in this life has to be regeneration and ongoing transformation. In Christ, born of God, a second birth through the power of the Holy Spirit—our indwelling God loving us, empowering, transforming, into the likeness of Christ! A supernatural process that is exciting! Do you experience God in this fashion? It matters most.

I am thankful God’s love for me, and you is beyond us. My fickle emotions, negative thoughts, bouts of uncertainty, worry, struggles, circumstances, etc., do not determine or define God’s love. Thank you Father, our Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit—our ever present God.

Sister/brother, my sincere prayer is that you have tasted and hunger more and more for the goodness of our gracious God in every aspect of your daily life.

David, a man, yet declared in character to be one after God’s own heart. Wow! In the midst of trouble, difficulty, stressful circumstances, he sought the Lord. What matters most? “When I am afraid I will trust in you.” David through the inspiration of God helps us to have that blessed assurance! “Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll—are they not in your record?” Beloved, God knows you, especially as there is ongoing surrender at the cross. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. [!] The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

“I cry out to God Most High to God who fulfills his purpose for me.” Therefore, “Be exalted O God, above the heavens, let your glory be over all the earth.” Overflow! “O my Strength, I watch for you; you O God are my fortress, my loving God.”

As I sought the face of the saints this past Sunday, I was encouraged! Be ye encouraged too! We cry out believing, growing, maturing from glory to glory! And, our goal is to live this life to please God, empowered by him, filled and overflowing!

There are millions in this world who are craving
The pleasures earthly things afford;
But none can match the wondrous treasure
that I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!…

So, my neighbor, if the things this world gave you
Leave Hungers that won’t pass a way,
My blessed Lord will come and save you,
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray:

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;
Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!
