Friday Morning Prayer:). April 16, 2015

April 16, 2015 - 8 minutes read

Eternal God, unchanging
Mysterious, and unknown
Your boundless love, unfailing
In grace and mercy shown
Bright seraphim in endless flight
Around Your glorious throne
They raise their voices day and night
In praise to You alone

Hallelujah!
Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah!
Glory be to our great God!

Sisters are meeting at First Baptist. 1912 Arnold Way. Alpine. 0900. Join our faithful sisters representing various fellowships to pray together. Yes! What a necessity and a joy! If you have a free hour in the AM… come with expectation, contribute to the holy time together, adore our God together, encourage one another… intentionally pray for our churches, pastors, leaders, those without Christ, our communities, Youth Center, schools, etc., May God the Holy Spirit infill and empower as sisters join in unity to pray! Thank you!

Brothers are meeting to pray at First Baptist too! That’s right! Faithful men of God, humble, hungry, even aching for a supernatural touch from God the Holy Spirit! Yes! You are invited! If you have been meaning to join and long to contribute to praise, adoration, a time of holy worship through prayer… may the Holy Spirit direct your steps! We discipline ourselves to pray… a short time indeed! However, as men come prepared to ask, seek, knock… crying out for abundant grace and flowing mercy… the sovereign hand of God moves on our behalf. We believe that! Yes! Our prayers matter and do make a practical supernatural difference! Humbly we come before the throne, trusting, knowing, confessing, rejoicing … the supernatural power of God expected in our midst! Not demanding or arrogance! NO! We humbly seek His face. There is no better time or place to be than in the presence of our holy God together. Be encouraged!

Beloved In Christ,

Sing to Jesus… Lord of our shame… Lord of our sinful hearts… He is our great Redeemer! Sing to Jesus… Honor His name… Sing of His faithfulness… Pouring His life out unto death… Yes! Come, you weary and He will give you rest… Come you who mourn… Lay on His breast… Sing to Jesus!

“To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.” [1] We pray to our Great God, He answers! Do you ache… longing for the comfort of our gracious God? I do! I struggle! I let the flesh rule sometimes, for moments at a time. I don’t like it! You don’t either! Hence, we cry out to the Lord of our shame, Lord of our sinful hearts, He is our great Redeemer! We reflect back to our God the psalms, understanding, at least to a lesser degree, the heart of David. “Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. [!] Give me relief from my distress be merciful to me and hear my prayer.”[2]

I confessed my struggle to brothers as we met for our weekly iron sharpens iron, encouragement, and support time. I pray you have this type of fellowship! O the necessity of just hanging out with brothers or sisters for no other reason than to “be Christian.” I heard the heart of my brother in response to my struggle. He said he too struggles, in fact each brother readily acknowledged their own struggle as they joked to keep it light and tolerable. Even now I think about my brother who said he “fights with God” many hours a night. “My soul is in anguish. How long, O Lord, how long? Turn, O Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.”[3] God knows our pain… in fact, our sovereign God knows everything! He alone sustains us and renews our aching souls. In light of our Eternal, unchanging, mysterious, and in many, many, many, ways unknown, we are called to love one another, sincerely pray, and just “be” with one another.

“The fire on the alter must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it. The fire must be kept burning on the alter continuously; it must not go out.”[4] This passage moved me this week! Wesley talked about the fire of holy love ever burning in our hearts. A perpetual fire representing an uninterrupted appeal to God on behalf of those we love. Moreover, the “fire” could signify the love of Christ to us! Never to be quenched by the many waters of our sinful behavior.

John Gill highlighted the emblem of graces of the Spirit of God in the hearts of His people, which have both light and heat in them. A perpetual fire pointing to the prayers of the saints, the fervency of them, and their perseverance in them; or rather the efficacy and acceptance of the sacrifice of Christ, which ALWAYS continues! Finally, Matthew Henry said, “Though we be not always sacrificing, yet we must keep the fire of holy love always burning and thus we must pray always.” [5]

Lord, we are weak and frail
Helpless in the storm
Surround us with Your angels
Hold us in Your arms

Our cold and ruthless enemy
His pleasure is our harm
Rise up, O Lord, and he will flee
Before our sovereign God

Let every creature in the sea
And every flying bird
Let every mountain, every field
And valley of the earth
Let all the moons and all the stars
In all the universe
Sing praises to the living God
Who rules them by His Word

Hallelujah!
Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah!
Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah!
Glory be to our great God!
Hallelujah!
Glory be to our great God![6]

Join Us to Pray! Always!

LoVe YOU! MUCH!
