Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.[1]

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”[2]
______________

Beloved,

Faith. The substance of our salvation. In corresponding with a friend he said, “But you and I both know that faith is stronger and more important than anything else!” Yes! I thank our gracious God for granting/gifting to all who cry out for mercy with a repentant and humble heart, a living faith in Jesus. Indeed! Our only salvation, we echo the words, “Who is a rock but our God, Who’s blood has sealed our freedom [?] Jesus, our savior, defender, redeemer”[3]

It has been said that trust originates from our faith. I am saved by God’s grace through faith gifted by God, and now His supernatural intervening love compels me to trust Jesus with everything pertaining to life. I trust the Lord with all my heart, ask him for wisdom, and humbly choose to not rely on my own understanding, especially about many things I have no control. Through much prayer, we, you and I readily acknowledge our God and trust his promise to make our paths straight.

As I write, I pray you are most assured of what we hope for and exceedingly certain of what we do not see. God given faith molding and directing our attitude toward the future and actively directing our choices in the present. The reality of the invisible supernatural world, which is superior to the visible. Do I readily admit that I am an alien and stranger on earth? “People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own…. they were looking for a better country—a heavenly one.”[4]

In the present through abundant grace we persevere in Christ! We live by faith, desiring to please our God, and by this supernatural and living faith we hold fast to the reality of God’s forever presence. Yes! Our indwelling God! Through prayer, and humble obedience we constantly trust our God to reward those who earnestly seek him.

Sister in Christ, Brother in Christ, “Let us break bread together on our knees… Let us drink wine together on our knees… Let us praise God together on our knees… When I fall on my knees with my face to the rising sun, O Lord have mercy on me.”[5]

Finding quietness with God. No computer, no phone, no distractions. With God alone where tears can overflow—yes we can cry at the feet of Jesus, there lasting relief is experienced. As holiness is our pursuit and flesh tends to prevail, conviction, repentance, brings those cries for help! Through our sorrows, sin recognized, tears flood a defeated heart, needing restoration, cleansing, and forgiveness. Our merciful God never leaves nor forsakes. Thankful! More real, more intimate is our God of all comfort. Trust. Help me Lord Jesus, we cry out.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
