Friday Morning Prayer:)… June 30, 2016

June 30, 2016 - 5 minutes read

Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.[1]

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”[2]

Faithful In Christ,

The Torres family is going through a time of mourning. Heidi, my lovely wife and my precious son Dylan who will be 12 in July, found the remains of our Siamese cat, Ninja. He was loveable and feisty, a hunter for sure, not as cautious as our other cat. Nonetheless, he will be greatly missed. I ask for your prayers ongoing, especially for Dylan and Heidi who found Ninja. We conducted a burial and talked with our gracious God through prayer. The beginning steps toward healing broken hearts underway.

As I sat and looked at Dylan, his watery eyes and listened to his cries of mourning, I thought about God. I hurt for my son. Does God hurt for Dylan? Yes. I trust, even as I cry out on their behalf, that our God has my boys in His hand as He molds and shapes, even allowing them to experience trials inherent in this life. I would have protected Dylan from seeing the remains, but God knows better than I what my sons need and can handle.

Beloved, the truth from Scripture for the regenerated, those genuinely In Christ, remains the same. God indwells us, loves, and comforts, teaches, empowers, and disciplines! Through our sufferings we are taught to rely on, cry out in prayer for abundant grace and overflowing mercy to sustain us through various trials and tribulations. This life is tough! We persevere in His strength! This is the nature of our In Christ life! Therefore, sister/brother, lean on the everlasting arms as you persevere through your struggles. He is faithful to sustain you, give the grace to endure and bring you through to everlasting glory. Yes!

The principle God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we too can comfort others through their trials with the comfort we ourselves have received from God will certainly be lived out in my boy Dylan’s life. Moreover, as we persevere through our struggles God will certainly use you and me to comfort others. May my heart be softened daily to practically love and comfort others through their various struggles, losses, failures, etc., in His strength and to His glory! We rejoice in knowing,

“The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. All you have made will praise you, O Lord;”[3]

Let me at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

Thou the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee,
Whom in Heav’n but Thee.

It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard… For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.” A supernatural joy! You are invited.

Thank you for your help through prayer!
