Friday Morning Prayer:)… April 11, 2019

April 11, 2019 - 8 minutes read

Is your burden heavy as you bear it all alone?
Does the road you travel, harbor dangers yet unknown?
Are you growin’ weary in the struggle of it all?
Jesus will help you when on his name you call

He’s always there hearing every prayer, faithful and true
Walking by our side, in his love we’ll hide all the day through
When you get discouraged just remember what to do
Reach out to Jesus, he’s reaching out to you

Is the life you’re living filled with sorrow and despair?
Does the future press you with its worry and its care?
Are you tired and friendless, have you almost lost your way?
Jesus will help you, just call to him today[1]

“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”[2]

The following old hymn appeals to our senses, an appeal to “…extol the LORD at all times; …boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.  Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.”[3]  “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”[4]

“Through all the changing scenes of life,
in trouble and in joy, the praises of my God shall still
my heart and tongue employ…

The hosts of God encamp around
the dwellings of the just; …
For God preserves the souls of those
who on his truth depend;
to them and their posterity His blessings shall descend.

To Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
the God whom we adore,
be glory, as it was, is now,
and shall be evermore. Amen.”[5]

In and through our victories as well as during times of trials and difficulties our necessary and most appropriate response is to ‘reach out to Jesus; he is reaching out to you.’  The truly regenerate heart knows and I need to be reminded, ‘Jesus will help you, just call to him today.’   As we know this truth, stored in our being, even God indwelling, we are compelled by the Spirit to share and overflow the love and comfort of Jesus.  A colleague at work was experiencing difficulty recently; an opportunity to call to Jesus as the tears fell and the glory of God manifest as Jesus helped her in that precious moment.  A text, a call, a note, an email, a word, a listening ear, a prayer… are all valued means to love and encourage others from church, work, school, home/family, etc., as the Spirit leads and Jesus reaches out through you.

I do not want to miss an opportunity to love another, or be loved by another directed by God, nor do you, especially as we desire the Spirit to direct our every step.  A couple of weeks ago Pastor Mark talked about listening to Jesus who directs as he determines.[6]  This past weekend Pastor Eric over at Mt. View Bible talked about our having “a real living relationship with God!”  A new life in Christ brings the supernatural and desire to genuinely relate with God in every context and hear his voice.  “In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.  May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.”[7]

Our God indwells every regenerate heart that has been humbled, softened, through the blood of the Lamb, though our sins once red as scarlet, have been cleansed white as snow, once darkness outside of the Savior, now the light of Christ shining in the darkness and we are filled with supernatural love, joy, peace reflecting our indwelling God.  Pastor Eric taught that Jesus is the door to our heart, mind, and soul; we are now in a dynamic relationship that is all-consuming and satisfying, which is God’s merciful intent as we are created in the image of God[8] to listen to his voice, reflect his glory, and pursue him in his strength and power.

God indwells; he helps us and is ever present.  A profound truth: a real intimate relationship, communing, enjoying, expressing, crying out, shedding tears, laughing, pleading, listening, surrendering, following, worshipping as the Spirit indwelling counsels, helps, and empowers our exciting journey with our triune God.  We are designed for supernatural fellowship!  Lord, help me and those reading to know your merciful hand in every aspect of our lives.  We are designed to depend on our God and called to be interdependent on one another as God gives us his wisdom, power, and strength to work out this great salvation.

He’s always there hearing every prayer, faithful and true
Walking by our side, in his love we’ll hide all the day through
When you get discouraged just remember what to do

Reach out to Jesus,
Come on and reach out to Jesus,
I said reach out to Jesus,
He’s reaching out to you
