Knowing and Experiencing God!

April 21, 2011 - 3 minutes read

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.”

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” –God (Isaiah 55:8-9)

We have an unimaginably big God, a God of infinite Wisdom, Love, Power and Creative Vision. How tragic if we mere humans, instead of basking and reveling in His Ways, actually limit Him (and ourselves) by substituting our own ways and traditions, however familiar and comfortable they may seem. Yet too often that is exactly what we have done.

In the pages of the New Testament, our God has described a life that is completely radical and new—unlike anything man has ever conceived, before or since. Men and women who are “foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another” can be totally transformed, from the inside out, and given an amazing opportunity to have Jesus’ life inside them. Despite their weaknesses and limitations, this new humanity—”from the least to the greatest”—can actually know their Creator God. As they look to Him in the face of Jesus, they can grow to become like Him in character and thought. And this reborn race of men can be “joined and knit together” into a Body, with its Head in Heaven and body on earth. They will prove that they belong to Jesus because of the undeniable love that they have for one another.

Is that your experience?

It can be. We believe it, because God says so. We have no method or movement or plan to get you there. But we don’t need one! Each of us merely needs to renew our minds to believe what God has said in the pages of His Word, to cry out to Him that the Reality that He has described would become true in our experience, and to surrender our own lives to embrace His Life. Interested? 🙂
