Friday Morning Prayer:)… September 7, 2017

September 7, 2017 - 6 minutes read
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.[1]

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.  And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”[2]
______________
Most Beloved!
In Christ, we perceive people differently.  It is no longer an “each man for himself” mentality.  We resist a dog eat dog world system.  Who can I step on as I climb my ladder of success?  It is no longer, ‘your business is yours and mine is mine, live your life, I’ll live mine.’ ‘You believe what you want, I’ll do the same.’  No!   “…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”[3]

Christ’s love compels us!  Compelled to love and serve God.  And, to love others, both those in Jesus and those needing Jesus!  A supernatural genuine concern for people.  Jesus died on a cross for all, and all died.  Which death?  For those genuinely in Christ, he is our Savior from the penalty of sin, eternal death; we die to self: selfish gain and self-centered motives.  We live to please God!  However, those needing redemption through the blood of Jesus are spiritually dead because of sin.  Christ in me aches for the “spiritually dead” person!  I pray for mercy because I have been made new, alive as God intended through Jesus!  I know God orchestrates as he determines, with mercy and abundant grace!

I trust our sovereign God.  With excitement, we readily offer to anyone willing to receive, the peace that transcends all worldly understanding and the supernatural joy that the world cannot give!  The gospel!  The Apostle Paul encourages us! “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.”[4]

Brother/sister!  You are Christ’s ambassadors, God makes his appeal through you!  Humbly we pray asking for God’s perspective.  With a fervent heart and genuine love, we ask God for the right words to clearly bring the message of reconciliation to ears willing to hear. “We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”  We say with much confidence and Holy Spirit power, “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”[5]

The Our Daily Bread read, “…pouring our hearts out to God in prayer helps us gain His perspective and reminds us of His power.”[6]  Beloved, be ye encouraged to pursue God in prayer… I need encouragement to do much of the same!  A necessary question I need to be asked, you do too, “How is it with your soul?  Our common goal in Jesus is to pursue a life marked by a healthy soul and spiritual power!  This constant pursuit equips us to effectively deliver the message of reconciliation.  Our high calling! Truly, we pray Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.  My prayer, my aim, is higher ground!

I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
