Friday Morning Prayer:)… July 27, 2017

July 27, 2017 - 8 minutes read
Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sov’reign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day![1]
Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.[2]
I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning,
Of His precious blood’s atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.[3]
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”[4]
Beloved in Jesus!
I do have to stop daily, be still, and choose humble before our Most Holy God!  I do remember.  God’s mercy saving my life.  There is no medical explanation for my survival so many years ago now.  There is a supernatural explanation.  The mercy of God giving me breath, restoring movement, utilizing surgeons to mend brokenness.  A young man deserving death, enhanced by poor decisions and natural consequences.  My Sov’reign did die for a worm such as I!  Mercy.  At the cross, by faith, I received my life, my sight, truly victory in Jesus!
This is my story this is my song!  Praising my Savior all the day long!  Yes!  This is my story!  Beloved, I pray it is yours too!  Overflowing the mercy of God that dictates your life!  In Christ, there is a supernatural love that compels the necessity to share this “…old, old story, how a Savior came from glory, how he gave his life on Calvary to save a wretch like me;…”  My call, yours too in Jesus, is to live for him who died and was raised again.[5]  In fact, as a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come!  Moreover, by God’s mercy, we no longer regard others from a worldly point of view.  No!  Steve Green sings it well!
People need the Lord, people need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, He’s the open door….We are called to take His light to a world where wrong seems right. What would be too great a cost for sharing life with one who’s lost?[6]
How much do I think about this truth?  The ministry of reconciliation.  “And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.  We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”  Really!  Wow!  “We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”[7]  Before the Throne of grace, in awe, Amazing Grace!  Brother/sister, how powerful!  Indeed!  There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r in the blood of the Lamb; this supernatural power to love and share the gospel is from our indwelling God.  Through the cross, the old rugged cherished cross, we no longer live for our own selfish interests, but long for, pursue, and cry out many times over for God’s will and direction, especially in our call to love and reach out to others.
Be ye encouraged! “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”[8]  In Christ you have become the righteousness of God!  So cool! Humble, joyful, and thankful for the mercy of God.  Be still and remember and share this wonderful story! To God’s glory!
And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in,
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee:
How great thou art! How great thou art![9]
