Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?[1]

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:  God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”[2]

For every genuine believer the basis of our faith is Jesus Christ.  Through our Lord Jesus we have fellowship with God our Father and with the community of believers.  The power of the Spirit helps us, indwells and the fruit of the Spirit is manifest through us to the glory of God.   We have life in Christ and realize eternal life with great confidence.

For those genuinely in Christ, through sweet fellowship we reflect the light of God, the righteousness of Christ, and supernatural love because we reflect God with us and in us.  Recently, I had to miss two consecutive Sundays at church.  I longed for the fellowship with believers.  There is no place I’d rather be than in corporate worship and feeling at home in the presence of people pursuing Jesus.  The writer of Hebrews, “Let us not give up meeting together…” because we need sweet fellowship!  Through the body of Christ, in Bible studies, or prayer groups, and especially with our church family, we “…consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”[3]   This fellowship is supernatural, hence we rely on the Holy Spirit to lead and direct, especially as we choose daily to walk in obedience to the gospel.

Jesus is the Christ, the incarnate Son of God; we depend on him for forgiveness and the power to overcome our sinful nature and the evil one.  The Apostle Paul, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.”[4]  Moreover, John the beloved, “But if anyone obeys his words, God’s love is truly made complete in him.  This is how we know we are in him:  Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.”[5] The test of my faith and yours too is an ever-increasing love for God and others, especially brothers and sisters in Christ.   “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”[6]

Brother/sister in Christ, I truly pray you can confidently identify with the inspired words of the Apostle John, “We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.  Moreover, Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth.”   O the blessed assurance!  “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love.  Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”[7]

Beloved, be ye encouraged as you walk, talk, and have your being in Jesus.  He is the way, truth, and life that empowers our lives to overcome every trial and endure every tribulation.  At church this week a precious brother said, “I am blessed because I have Jesus.”  O man, how true that statement for every regenerate heart!  We walk humbly with our God in great reverence.  We fellowship and develop relationships that are dynamic and full of grace and overflowing love.  In humility we consider others more significant than ourselves.  It is not just about my interests, but the interest of others.  I strive in the power of God to have the same attitude of Christ Jesus.   Persevere!  “…continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”[8]

When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb!
