Friday Morning Prayer:)… December 7, 2017

December 7, 2017 - 8 minutes read
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, this little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Hallelujah
This little light of mine
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Ev’ry where I go
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, ev’ry where I go
I’m going to let it shine
Hallelujah
Ev’ry where I go
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

All in my house
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, all in my house
I’m going to let it shine
Hallelujah
All in my house
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine[1]

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”[2]
____________
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on!  … He has sounded forth the Trumpet that shall never call retreat.  He is sifting out all the hearts of men before his judgment seat.  Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him, be jubilant, my feet!  Our God is marching on.[3]

How precious our shared faith.  God is sovereignly calling you and me to walk with him humbly.  To fight the good fight of faith, never retreat.  O God, before your throne I have a strong, a perfect plea, a great High Priest, whose name is Love who ever lives and pleads for me.  My name is graven on His hands, my name is written on His heart.[4]

How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.  Once darkness, now light in the Lord.  I pray you are experiencing that ever-increasing desire to shine brighter, to know God better, greater depths of fellowship through prayer.  O how I need those personal encounters with God.  You do too!  We know that God is active through his word and how essential that the word of God saturate our prayers.  Like the Psalmist we plead with confidence, “Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God.  Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.”[5]

“Our God is marching on…”  In other words, our God loves you deeply, he intervenes in your struggles, and he empowers all who cry out to him.   Every day God gives strength to be swift O my soul, and hear the God of all comfort.  Yes!  Be jubilant, my feet and answer our gracious God with much praise and worship.

God knows our sufferings and grieves with us in times of trouble, loss, heartache.  Our gracious God helps us work out our salvation because of Jesus.  Moreover, our righteousness, to be declared right with God comes through faith in Jesus to all who genuinely believe.  We rightly celebrate the birth of Christ in light of the cross and resurrection.  “Jesus was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”[6]   “Justification is the work of God where the righteousness of Jesus is reckoned to the sinner, so the sinner is declared by God as being righteous under the Law (Rom. 4:35:1,9Gal. 2:163:11).  This righteousness is not earned or retained by any effort of the saved.”[7]

Let your light shine brightly in a dark world this Christmas season.  Rejoice, rejoice, believers![8]  By God’s amazing grace, ‘Ev’ry where I go I’m going to let it shine.’  Indeed, through the power of our indwelling God and a constant fervent pursuit of God, the supernatural occurrence of good works will bring glory to God our heavenly Father.   Be ye encouraged!  God is working out his plan through our lives to his glory and our good.

I’m not going to make it shine
I’m just going to let it shine
I’m not going to make it shine
I’m just going to let it shine
Hallelujah
I’m not going to make it shine
I’m just going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

Out in the dark
I’m going to let it shine
Oh, out in the dark
I’m going to let it shine
Hallelujah
Out in the dark
I’m going to let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
