Friday Morning Prayer:). August 27, 2015
August 27, 2015 - 6 minutes readAs The Deer
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship thee
You alone are my strength, my shield
To you alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship thee[1]
Faithful In Christ,
Why do we pray? Our God lives! A compelling desire to commune with… an increasing hunger and insatiable thirst for our living God! Yes! I and you too my brother/sister In Christ…:)! We need greater intimacy, more comfort, and genuine love… the “In Christ” reality… the presence of our gracious God! Through prayer we invite continuously… truly, the supernatural empowering presence of our abiding God. Amazing!
Moreover, we pray because God through the Lord Jesus is our friend, even our brother, mighty King…Savior… Holy God… we pray for our love to abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so we may discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, even filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory of God.[2]
We pray because God has gifted us a living faith! I was sharing with a faithful brother yesterday morning: I pray because I believe! I know my prayers matter and make a difference in the heart of our sovereign God! “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”[3] James tells us, “The prayer of a righteous man [woman] is powerful and effective.”[4]
Jesus said, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”[5] Our brother Bob Hough preached recently about this passage and made reference to the “reward.”[6]
How are we rewarded? God answers our prayers according to His grace and mercy! People are healed, neighbors come to church, hardships are reduced, the lost experience salvation, families begin healing, marriages restored, passion ignited, unity is pursued, vision expressed, many dangers, even crisis situations avoided, etc.,.. brothers and sisters join together to praise & worship our holy, holy, holy God! Precious!
Therefore, I encourage YOU to pray, pray, and pray! Not out of any legalistic duty, but because our God is the God of all comfort and full of compassion. May your intense and earnest secret prayer make the sovereign difference in someone’s life today.
Moreover, brother In Christ, pursue brothers and join in much humble prayer together. Sister In Christ, I encourage you to join faithful gals in prayer. Together, we are strengthened and empowered to approach the throne of grace with confidence.
“But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, ‘Let God be exalted!’ ”[7] “My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day long, though I know not its measure.”[8]
You’re my friend and you are my brother
Even though you are a king
I love you more than any other
So much more than anything
You alone are my strength, my shield
To you alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship thee
I want you more than gold or silver,
only you can satisfy.
You alone are the real joygiver
and the apple of my eye.
You alone are my strength, my shield
To you alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship thee
