Friday Morning Prayer:)… August 24, 2017

August 24, 2017 - 7 minutes read
I serve a risen Savior
  He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
  Whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy;
  I hear His voice of cheer;
And just the time I need Him
  He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me
  I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary,
  I never will despair;
I know that He is leading,
  Through all the stormy blast;
The day of His appearing
  Will come at last.[1]
“Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry for help come to you…. He will respond to the prayer of the destitute; he will not despise their plea.  Let this be written for a future generation, that a people not yet created may praise the Lord.”[2]
Beloved in Jesus,
A fella walked into my office yesterday unexpectedly.  We talked about our Lord Jesus in days past and I was always encouraged by our shared faith.  At this visit, we picked up very easily as we smiled and shared the joy of walking, talking, and enjoying Jesus!  I am amazed by our living God!  Indeed!  I know he lives, I see his hand of mercy; I hear his voice of cheer!  At the sound of your great Name, the weak find strength, the lost are found, hungry souls are filled, fatherless are comforted, we are encouraged to persevere under the heaviest of loads.  Yes!  I see his loving care, and though my heart grows weary, I will never despair.  He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way!
The longing for God.  To not only know but to feel/sense our God.  A supernatural experience that is not sensational or an expression of undue emotion, no!  How do I know he lives? He lives within my heart!  This relationship with God our Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit is dynamic and powerful!  To spend time pursuing God moves the soul!  With the psalmist, we are compelled to shout for joy to the Lord and worship with gladness, come before the Throne with joyful songs![3]  Truly, in Christ, we readily sing and joyfully proclaim, “Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”[4]
I pray you are experiencing God to the fullest as you journey through this more often than not, difficult life, especially as you, me too, are careful to lead a blameless life.  Our sovereign God molding and shaping us into the image of Jesus through various trials and tribulations.  The already.  In Christ, we are anchored.  We have the Scriptures to teach us, the Spirit to comfort, remind, and empower!  Jesus said, “if anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”[5]  “How marvelous!  How wonderful! And my song shall ever be: How marvelous!  How wonderful! Is my Savior’s love for me!”[6]
The not yet.  Brother and sister, be ye encouraged by what is to come for those in Christ.  Indeed!  A brother reflected recently, in the midst of struggle and less than desirable circumstances, “it is not going to perfect in this life.”  In fact, this world is not my home!  We find refuge in Christ!  The longing, come Lord Jesus.  Moreover, the psalmist looked ahead to the glory of God manifest in a people not yet created!  Therefore, let us too rejoice in our sovereign God and all he is doing in our generation and will do in and through generations to come.  May I and you too, have the boldness to readily proclaim, He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
    He lives within my heart.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
  Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
  To Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him,
  The Help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
  So good and kind.
