Friday Morning Prayer:). October 23, 2014

October 24, 2014 - 7 minutes read

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Brothers are meeting at Bethel for a time of prayer. 1929 Arnold Way. Alpine. 0730. If you can’t make it, pray with us wherever our Lord as strategically placed you at this time:). Getting together with diverse brothers representing various fellowships is rewarding! Moreover, when brothers unify to encourage one another and pray… it is powerful! Living out “Love one another…” is manifest each week as we gather to pray.

Our sisters In Christ are meeting to love one another and pray too! Praise God! First Baptist. Alpine. 1912 Arnold Way. 0900. I get excited about brothers and sisters gathering with the intent to pray for our Alpine, surrounding communities, our country, our culture, our local churches: Pastors, Elders, Deacons, Leaders, all those who serve selflessly week after week to the glory of God and love for others.

Allow me to bring folks up to date on needed prayer for Alpine Youth Center: The county has issued requirements, hence code standards for the youth center building. Joseph is working on getting the report and clarify all that is involved. Therefore, we need your ongoing prayers.

The youth center serves at least 50-60 youth a day during the school week. It is a demonstration of love to our youth and their families. Many parents rely on the consistency, supervision, structure the youth center provides for their kids after school. It appears that much of the code issues are remodeling in nature, (e.g., another bathroom, extended this and that) we will clarify the details. For now we pray… as our Lord is in this, as we have seen, and continue to experience His grace…. He will provide and orchestrate the needed changes through our prayers.

We are officially partnering with Foot Hills Church and are recognized as Youth Venture. A necessary move to ensure multiple volunteers and ongoing support to keep the vision evolving: reaching many youth with the gospel, families loved and wooed to local churches, allowing many in our own community to volunteer, and finally connecting with our own local churches to facilitate community events, we invite those “called to serve and minister to youth” to get involved!

The Youth Center is a great opportunity to love kids, model Christian values, teach the gospel, organize events, share your ideas… even get disconnected kids connected to your youth group at your church!

Other areas we continue to ask for prayer: Higher Ground group at Joan McQueen. Every Tuesday after school, our brothers Mark and Jonathan from Calvary, Joseph… make the time to love, teach, have fun with a bunch of middle school kids. Very cool!

Ongoing Ministry to Alpine Special Treatment Center. Folks who have a calling to love those suffering from mental illness have opportunity to get involved. Please continue to pray for this ministry.

Our brother Dean Kalieo has started a through the Bible study on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm. You are invited. Only for an hour. Dean has a great teaching style and a wealth of Bible knowledge. Check it out!

We will be serving folks for Thanksgiving. I am pretty sure we are partnering with Bethel this year to serve our community: Thanksgiving dinner. I will let you know the details as Joseph and Greg work them out. I know a few folks have inquired about volunteering:).

Friday Morning Prayer! Keep praying! Brothers and Sisters consistently meeting to cry out, asking all the time for our sovereign God to move on our behalf and on behalf of our communities, churches, small groups, outreaches, etc., We believe with all we got, our Gracious God hears our prayers and moves according to his sovereign plan… which our prayers are inherently a part of His plan… so keep praying, trusting, and expecting our God to pour out His Spirit and radically change things to His glory! :).

One last thing. Our brother Jeff Brown. He attends Mt. View. An ordained pastor who loves Jesus and gifted in many ways:). He has got a cool event planned for November 20… thought I’d share… especially for those who love apologetics and even for those who want to better understand how to defend our precious faith and transform a diverse and corrupted culture. Thanks Jeff for sharing. Love you man! :).

“Good Morning Randall,

Here are the links about Dr. Jones on Youtube.

I will be hosting an event to introduce him to East county believers that aren’t familiar with his ministry. He has just completed a teaching series for Ligonier Ministries on culture. I hope you can join us on Thursday, November 20th at 7PM. (location TBD)

Here is Dr. Jones YouTube video about TruthXchange. (Just to give you a feel for their ministry)

The link to Ligonier ministry series is here: http://www.ligonier.org/learn/series/only-two-religions/explaining-modern-culture/

Thanks for looking at them and wanting to be involved, Christian Worldview is a hard thing for some to grasp. Our culture does not see the change it is undertaking.

God’s grace,

Jeff Brown
